Help Notification sounds

dazcaz

Newbie
I have a niggling problem... When I get an e-mail, sometimes the phone sounds my notification sound, sometimes it just buzzes... I only want it to buzz and have set it to do so. When I get a mail it will buzz and then a minute or so later make the sound. It doesn't do this all the time.
Any ideas?

Next question...
Is it possible to set an MP3 file as my text message sound? I don't think there is, but you clever people on here might know better :)

Back to the first question... the other annoying thing is that after I get the notification of an e-mail, I get the notification later too and later again and later again, until I read the mail... Can I stop this... Apart from reading the message?

Not sure. But try an app like Volume Control. You can set the volume of your notifications all the way down and just turn on vibrate..
Although this will also turn down your text messages sound. Not sure if you want this,

Yes, just open up your text messaging app, hit menu-settings. Then click on select ringtone. In there you should see an option for music... which should be any MP3 files you've put on your sd card.

Open up your gmail app, then menu-settings, near the bottom under notificatione settings, there should be an option for Notify Once. This will keep you from continuing to get annoying reminders.

I don't have the option for music when trying to change the notification. I only have the music option for the ringtone.

I also don't have the option to be alerted only once. I don't use Gmail, only the main mail program.

I've searched all the options and can't find what I'm looking for :(

I find that the Gmail app to be much better than the Mail app. I ended up just forwarding my email to my Gmail account. You get push mail and only one email alert until you read it.

I have started using Gmail and I quite like it. This raises another issue...
I have set the non Gmail app to not call for e-mail. But it does... When I go to check the settings, I see that the settings have reverted back to the old settings. I change them again , but the same thing, they revert to the old settings.

This tags onto yet another issue... The text message App is set to play a downloaded file as it's sound. When I get a text it plays the default sound. I go to settings and see that the sound is set to default. I go down the list to reset the sound the the downloaded one only to find it's not in the list, as it was earlier. I then have to un-intsall the sound and re-download it and set it again... But again it goes back to default....

Why does the phone not do as it's told? Why does it keep resetting itself to the default options?

I really love this phone, but these annoyances are taking the edge of it.

This is getting annoying now!
My phone has yet again change the notification tone al by itself with no input from me.
Can anyone shed any light as to why/how it does this?
How does one contact HTC to ask them about this problem?
Does anyone else have this problem.

Also, the mail program has started calling for mail again, though I turned this off a few days ago!!!!. This phone has a mind of it's bloody own!!!!
