Help Notification Sounds

This may sound silly.. but here goes. I had an HTC Rezound.. When I would listen to music I would hear the message or email notification sound thru the headphones. With my GS4 the notification sounds are thru the phone speaker and not the headphone. Thus if the phone is in my pocket, everyone around me hears it yet if my muisic is loud I dont. I have read and checked all my settings and cant figure this out. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It's called "different strokes for different folks". HTC does it one way, Samsung does it another way. There may be apps you can use to redirect the notifications and ringtones to the headphones, but you'd have to search - I don't know of any off-hand.
