Help Notification to "Upgrade"

I have a first generation Moto-G (NOT rooted). Ever since Lollipop was released I've been getting the notifications to upgrade. I don't want to upgrade, so I tap "No Thanks". No big deal to do that a dozen times a day I guess.
Here's the real problem: The sliding animation thing that happens when the notification pops up has started happening more and more often, almost every time WITHOUT the notification. This is happening so often I can barely use my phone now, like maybe 5-10 times a minute.
Does anybody know why this is happening, or how I can fix it?
Thank you kindly

Why don't you want the update? Have you read about people with your same phone having problems with it?
What kind of problems?

Sorry I can't answer your question mate, just thinking out the box a bit :thumbsupdroid:

I am afraid to "upgrade" to 5. Just about every time I upgrade a laptop, phone or tablet, the "New and Improved" OS absolutely pooches my hardware. Millions and millions of people are still enjoying 4.4.4 or below. I've been using it on this phone since I bought it in May 2014, and it's been great until now. "Upgrading" is not an option, unless my phone is absolutely broken under 4.4.4 now.
I haven't read into if people with the original Moto G have been having problems or not.
No problem re. answering my question, thanks for the reply anyway.

Well the only advice I can give is that these forums were full of people complaining about the 4.3 and 4.4 update and most of these issues were cured by either a simple cache clear or a factory reset (which can be a pita).
These are big updates and as all custom rom flashers know, you wipe cache and data after flashing a rom (changing the OS)
And for what it's worth I've read no complaints about the lollipop update on Motorola (though there could be. You should research it)
Lollipop is running beautifully on my phone (even before a factory reset) and imo is the best Android version yet.
At the end of the day it's your phone though and hopefully someone can help with your problem but I'd Google "Moto G 2013 lollipop issue" or similar and see what the issues are but I can virtually guarantee they'd be solved by backing up your phone and resetting it.
Just my two pence lol, sorry for dragging on :D

And welcome to the forums :)

So are you talking about getting notifications to upgrade your phone constantly? Or O.S system I know my wife is running jellybean on her note 2 and seems fine with it. If your getting bombarded with text to upgrade constantly to a new device. I would first contact my service provider and tell them you are not interested in a new device, I would do in person, email ,snail mail. If it continues start taking screen shots save them once you got alot several dozen contact a lawyer and Sue for emotional distress. Some lady in Texas is getting paid $250,000 for 153 robocalls from Comcast,

Hi Joe.
He's talking about notifications for software upgrades, not phone upgrades mate ;)
Cheers for the reply though :thumbsupdroid:

Thanks for all your replies. Indeed it is an Android notification, not a notification to upgrade handset. Still it seems to be causing major problems, flashing on my screen then instantly disappearing, inturrpting anything I'm doing.
I'm starting to think maybe it's a hardware issue or something? I can't find anything anywhere on the internet describing this problem. It just seems weird that it it's the exact same animation that happens when the "Upgrade to Android 5" notification comes up.
