Help Notification Tone ?

New here so this may not be the last question...

New phone, Desire S with Gingerbread, how do I set a notification tone for incoming texts when it appears you don't have the option to select files in the Music folder to use, unlike when setting a ring tone.

Thanks all

Stu

Thanks for reply, but that does not work, you only get list of existing sounds or get more, how do I get to an area where my own sounds are stored?

Do the same for a ringtone and it gives you the option of New Ringtone, select that option and it takes you to your music library.

Just make a folder on your sd-card and name it "notifications", and put your tones in there.

Same goes for "alarms" and "ringtones"

/sdcard/alarms OR /sdcard/media/alarms
/sdcard/notifications OR /sdcard/media/notifications
/sdcard/ringtones OR /sdcard/media/ringtones

Very simple, tap on messages, and from the all messages screen tap menu -> settings -> notifications -> notifications sound. took me a while to figure out as well, he he.
BTW, this procedure also applies to email notification sound as well.

I would also like to be able to do this, but it appears that your solution does not work, well at least I can't make it work.
Anyone?

Just tried what has been suggested and cannot get it to work. Reading the manual it appears you can only use the one's supplied or add extra from HTC Sense.

Thanks again.

There's an app called Zedge which lets you set notification sounds that can be downloaded from the app, so the notification sounds definitely aren't restricted to only the one's supplied or HTC Sense's extra ones.

Perhaps whilst you're waiting for someone who knows the answer, you could find a fitting sound from Zedge? There's a lot of sounds to choose from in the app (talking thousands)

This way works perfectly. Even adds the files to the list unlike Zedge.
