i downloaded a message ringtone from zedge set it as notification ringtone in set up but it wont play but the call ringtone works ok

Find the ringtone file in my files. I guess it will be in downloads. Then press menu, more then move. Select this file. Then go to media, audio, notifications and move it here. Now if you go to settings to set your notification tone it should show up on the list.

just checked mine now. no download folder. .. tried copying an mp3 tone in Sounds folder but no luck. :(

like mentioned above, copy it to the notifications folder, not audio folder. u can even create a new folder called notifications in ur external sd card root folder, n add ur tones there. thats wat ive done, it shows up perfectly as a sound, to set a ringtone or notification :)

Note also when I added an mp3 the same way that heshanj describes - what appeared in the selection menu was the "Title" tag in the MP3 file. So if that tag field in the MP3 file is has a space in it or some unreadable characters it may not display in the settings popup for selection properly.

You can however edit the tag directly in windows, file, properties, on the right most tab (can't remeber the name) then edit the Title tage directly while the phone mounted as a USB storage or before you transfer the file to the phone.

Have you tried going into the message (sms) section press menu and going to settings? then scroll right down til you see "notification settings" then make sure notifications is ticked and then go into "select ringtone" and the tone you require should be here
