Help notification tones

i have a galaxy s7 and i was wondering how you could have individual notification tones for different phone contacts when they message you. because i cant seem to figure it out.

This used to be an old feature on previous Android versions, (IE: gingerbread) but on the latest versions I don't think it has this. Unless another member wants to chime in, I don't think the current S7 android version has this feature. What Version are you on? 5.0? 5.1? ect

I want to say that you can choose what sound to use for a particular contact from within the phone/contacts app.
Choose to edit the contact, then scroll down a bit for the options to do so?

I am using Textra and just went thru this a few minutes ago.

I have several folks set up with their own private Notification tones, and IF they will vibrate or not.... all of this is Customizable for each contact.

The Contacts app has nothing to do with the Notifications tone for the SMS app. That is set within the SMS app itself as mentioned in my prior post about Textra.

[...] my prior post about Textra.

More helpful to the OP would be whether you do the same with the default Messaging app on an S7, as that would seem the most likely scenario based on his/her question.

Anyone with an S7 able to confirm?
