Help Notifications bar widget

Alien8472

Newbie
Hi
Im trying to fond a notifications bar widget that will work with galaxy S2. I tied 3 from market and none allowed Data to switch with one click, rather they just take u to settings page.

Anyone found one? or is it a current limitation of android?

chrs

if you mean switching data off/on, then on most versions of the firmware, "Data" is a toggle icon on the notification bar.

Strange, to toggle Data on this phone i have to hold power button in for a few seconds...

I just want a nice widget to do it!

what firmware version are you on?
a data button toggle is on the notification bar for most versions, but was not on one or two versions as i recall

Juicedefender has a widget that does just that (the only reason I bother with it. Just install it and then add the "network data toggle" widget to turn it on and off quickly. I'm not sure whether it works if you disable Juicedefender, but I have it turned on anyway just in case.

search for data enabler widget by farproc in the market. works very well and is exactly what you're looking for.
It is a homescreen widget though.

I use widgetsoid. You can customize a lot of the buttons. Even calls. Bluetooth, Data, Wifi is all there. Just need to get the settings right. For example, if you don't want you to go to the setting page when using the toggle, you need to uncheck one of the settings.

I think Beautiful widgets have the same concept, but never tried that.

Cheers

Mmm... I've been accessing the data switch via a long press on the power button. Never seen it on the notification bar in version 2.3.3 or 2.3.5.

im using android version 2.3.4 btw

Just installed 'Toggle It' which is ok, but it still just takes you to settings screen for both GPS and DATA toggles ;/

ok installed widgetsdroid and got it to switch Data ok, still dosent switch GPS on 1 click though ;/

Not sure what you are doing wrong. I just choose a widget of 4x1 Switcher. From there I just choose which one I want to put in place. The data icon should be on/off while the 2G/3G goes to the settings. For bluetooth and wifi, need to uncheck if you want it to be a single button click. I remain as going to the settings page since both wifi and bluetooth is in the notification bar whereas data is not.

Try again?

kind of on topic but not really...

Why do I get dumb arse advertisements in my notification bar!? I never got them with the Xperia.

I dont care about what Kim Kardashian just did!

I'm not sure what you are saying russell. As i have said i managed to get Data working fine, is just the GPS which now wont switch, which i have since read is a limitation of android 2.3 onwards, why this is so, i can not tell you!

By the way widgetsoid is a bit of a bitch to set up! Not exactly intuitive! But it seems to work ok when u finally manage it.

Sorry. Totally misread your previous post talking about GPS. Thought it was about data toggle :D

As for GPS. Its already in the notification bar. Those don't take you to the settings page. With widgetsoid, I am using it specifically to take me to the settings page. For example, I am using fixed IP for wifi at work. So need to change that if go to the local coffee shop. So its easier to go to settings page with one click. Except for Data toggle.

Otherwise, would use the notification pull down.

I know its a hassle for the widgetsoid, but its cool what you can do with it. You can set it up like a shortcut to anything in the phone. I have my constant call numbers in the home screen with tiny pictures of the contacts. :D

One other thing, the data toggle works if you activate the data line. If you long press on the power button then disable data line from there, the toggle won't work.
