Hi. All of my email notifications say "content hidden", but I can't work out why. Things I've done

Settings> lock screen>notifications - set on and tap hide content is off, view style is details
settings>notifications>email - all account show notifications is on, new emails is on and tap has alert and lock screen as "show content"

Where else could hide content be???

Thanks for any advice. i have Samsung S10 software update 30 Jun 20. One UI 2.1

Did notifications ever work? Try going into settings>apps>email and checking the specific app permissions and notifications. Are you using the default email app? You might try using the gmail app and see if you get a different result. you could also got to settings>apps>email and clearing the cache and data. Mind you that will erase your account information and any saved email messages, but it will put everything back to default for the app.

Notifications work, but just with content hidden. I don't know if that has ever worked, but just got a smart watch and realised this is a problem. Yes i'm using default email app and notification settings are all on. I dont have gmail as have my own domain and a bunch of Microsoft work emails so can I add those kinds of accounts to gmail? i cleared the cache but don't see how to clear the data? since all my email is on Microsoft exchange doesn't matter if i wipe the emails completely

Thanks Mike

Gmail allows you add many different types of mail including Exchange, Yahoo, or plain IMAP accounts. I've been using gmail exclusively with 5 different email accounts for several years. I like the ability to view all email or separate inboxes by account.

FWIW, I set up my wife's S10e for her two email accounts and she get's notifications without problem. Shoe sales, Bed Bath & Beyond coupons, Barnes & Noble romance novels .... everything just works, unfortunately. ;)

Well my google account is my personal email so I have added that to my phone. I can add my work emails in Gmail but oddly if I try to add my personal email it says the account is already added. However i cant see my personal email in the gmail app? Also tried send an email to my work email and didnt get any notification form gmail despite all the notifications being set on!!! I'm thinking i need to do some back up and restore or similar,. but if there is somethnig corrupted I'll just get it back again.

Hmmm. Are you looking specifically for lock screen notifications, or just a notification in general? Since Samsung burdens their phones with their bloatlauncher® it may be that One UI is blocking the notifications and not Android.

Well actually I'm trying to see the content on my smart watch and dont really care about the phone. Contents seem to be hidden whether its locked or unlocked. What one ui? can I delete it?

yup all those are on, but there is no control in there about content according to the watch people. any way all the notifications on my phone say content hidden so sure the problem is on the phone.

Try looking to see if you have work profile set up on phone. Those emails are exchange and will go to different place. Ran into this problem the other day. I have Gmail but oddly enough the work profile sets up a Microsoft exchange email. If you go on internet and look at gmail, not on the app, and look for all mail. That will show the stuff you are missing valso you can go into settings in Gmail, on a computer, not a phone and turn on updates, that also shows the emails your missing. It all has to do with the Android app
