Notifications on JB

I just downloaded Jelly bean on my nexus s
and i am not encountering the cool notifications is has
i not even getting notifications from "messaging" app and i have notifications turned on.

Also what is the best JB launcher for the nexus s

A few people have mentioned this same problem and that doing a factory reset fixed it for them.
