Hi
Does anyone know how to make the notifications louder on a non rooted note 2, i have looked at volume boosters but non seem to work after the latest jellybean update :(, or they only work with music not notifications :(

Thanks

Pete

try smart volumes free

Thanks but as far as i can see that just locks the volumes to what ever level you want, i need a volume booster like "speaker boost" but like i said this doesnt work on the latest jellybean.

Can you confirm this rasies the volume levels?

Thanks

Pete

You can download the free app "Ring Tone Maker" from the play store and open up an existing notification sound and re-save it while increasing the sound in the application settings. Works great in increasing overall sound in individual sound files.

Thanks but that didn't work for inbuilt sounds, only picks up about 3 files, none of the ones I want to change

I sure hate to hear that the low notifications sound problem exist on this phone, too. I'm happy for jellybean but it fixed one problem (ringtones not sticking) then created a new one (low notifications sounds). You just can't win!!

Definitely, if I could post a screen shot I would :(

Who makes the app, as there are loads with the same name.

Thanks Pete

I use Handcent SMS, you can set it to remind you if you missed a text, very handy as I work in a loud environment sometimes. Also you can choose what SMS tone you want for each person.

Thanks,I also use that but its not just sms notifications, its also ringtone, hopefully the developer will update speaker boost to work with new jellybean

I had similar issue in the early days of my Note 1 in that the notification sounds were too quiet and too short. The Settings menu may be quite different on JB and I hope I’m not trying to show my grandmother how to suck eggs but have you already tried making adjustments at Settings/Sounds/Volumes?

You may also wish to try putting new sound files in the Phone/Notifications folder; they are in ‘.m4a’ format. I used some very loud classic and jazz tracks and its fine now.

Please keep us informed of developments.

Thanks for trying, yes i have checked all the volume levels and they are all set to max, it wouldnt be so bad if i could find the folder that stores the notification sounds, i could then transfer them to the pc, raise the volume & then put them back on the phone, trouble is i cant see the folder, you probably have to be rooted to be able to see it :-(

Good News, just dowloaded a new file explorer & found the sound folder :-)
and it allowed me to select them all & email to myself, they are ogg files so now its just a case of editing the volume & putting them back on the phone ;-)

In case anyone wants to know they are under System-Media-Audio-Notifications

in fact the Audio file contains all the system sounds from what i can see :-)

I'm glad you got it sorted and thank you for giving us the solution. I will probably need to do the same when I get a Note 2.

I got a similar issue. Basically my Note2 refuses to use the back speaker, and every sound/music is coming from the front (ear) speaker... so overall it's a very quiet phone.

Edit: Fixed via Reboot: this is becoming some kind of Windows phone or what :)
