Nov. Maintenance OTA Update Discussion Thread

If this update actually makes charging times quicker, I'm all for it. With the phone on it takes way too long to do a full charge

Even if all this update does is push the newest Kernal, it will definitely fix your issue.

Im running that Kernal and can confirm without doubt, the charge times are much faster.

Drain times seem to be untouched (unfortunately)

Just so I am clear, the only way for me to get this on my phone is to unroot then download it? Then I have to go through the rooting process again and reset up my phone? Bummer...

Here's is a video I made to show there's no text lag. I typed as fast as I can and just pressed random letters. If you can type faster than that I applaud you!

Like I've said I got the Dinc on the Oct 19th... it's a version 3 with SLCD. My music also resumes after calls and navigation. Maybe version 3's already have been updated a little.

I would just wait for the cooks to get their hands on it more so than already, it will then be in every ROM you can find

Sorry, but how do I use this file? Do I need to boot from this file off the dev menu (holding volume down while powering up)? Never did the RUU to 2.2...

Any way of knowing if this fixes the gmail bug where the bar does not stick to the top of the screen when scrolling through emails? Or is this a Gmail-Google issue? Otherwise a crapware update that no one is interested in.

Just add .exe to that file name, plug your phone up to your computer and keep it on charge only then just run the ruu.

Thanks, I actually downloaded it right to the phone without putting the browser into mobile view first. For some reason when you do that it won't recognize it as an executable file.

Are you talking about the notification bar? Both that and inbox bar stick to top of the screen on mine. I updated the app though the Market about a week ago.

I started laughing when I saw in the list "Play YouTube videos in YouTube application." Well I would hope you would be able to do this.

It worried me a little when I saw that. Does it mean we wont be able to watch embedded videos directly on websites?

Mine takes about 3-4 hours to charge with the phone on from 10% left. How long does yours take? I thought 3-4 hours was pretty reasonable.

i'd love to make a video, but the problem is that text lag occurs at hte most random times for me. i can't pinpoint it and recreate it every time, it just happens

More reason to suspect it's an interference issue. When apps are syncing perhaps.

One thing to note, I noticed my animations were slower when I installed Astro File Manger. It went back to normal as soon as I got rid of it.

people that have the texting lag are the ones that updated to 2.2 OTA. since your phone came with 2.2 pre-installed, there should be no texting lag issues.

Try uninstalling the file manager and rebooting the Dinc. I was amazed at how much Astro slowed things down. File managers might not be entirely compatible with sense 2.2.

Cool. They're still missing some of the big issues with Froyo though. Hope they just didn't list them in the press release. But who knows when we will see this. Hope that since we have the official Verizon press releases it won't be too long. Though I do have a feeling that HTC and Verizon will still play update hockey for a little while before they push it.

Edit:

They're fixing the battery life. The screen shot of Droidlife isn't the whole release. Here's the link to Verizon's site for the update with the whole release:

Software Update: DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC

do you just make things up as you type.!

well i WAS going to root but i think i will wait for the official update to be released that way everyone has time to work it into their root process and i only have to whipe my phone once instead of twice if i do it now and then have to flash the new RUU in a few weeks when the official final update is released

this is all assuming that the Incredible HD doesnt become official and i end up just wanting to get that

my god i hate the cell phone industry

No one needs to use the RUU, unroot or anything that complex. I released this update as a ROM a month ago, deodexed, rooted and ready to go. Nothing has been removed and only Superuser was added.

Virtuous ROM: Other Releases

Alternatively, as others have mentioned, Virtuous 3.1.0 is based on this release. So if you prefer a more polished stock ROM, then the option is there also. Point is, there are numerous easy-to-install options to choose from already.
