Nov. Maintenance OTA Update Discussion Thread

Are you talking about the notification bar? Both that and inbox bar stick to top of the screen on mine. I updated the app though the Market about a week ago.

Are you rooted? The inbox bar doesn't stick to the top like in the browser version. I tried uninstalling updates and reinstalling and it didn't do it. I havent been prompted to updated the Gmail app from the market.

people that have the texting lag are the ones that updated to 2.2 OTA. since your phone came with 2.2 pre-installed, there should be no texting lag issues.

Yea I have the OTA 2.2 and its garbage lag everywhere
I finally got a good Dinc(2 had bad speakers) and then the OTA a week later screws it up heh.

I'm not rooted but I got the version 3 with SLCD. Inbox (0) bar stays on top for me just fine.

I didn't get prompted either, I just saw a newer version (2.3) and downloaded it. You only get prompted for apps you have downloaded form the market, not the ones that are preinstalled.

got rid of the file manager, and i'm noticing text lag a shitton more than usual today. sigh. 2.2 completely ruined and crippled this phone for me, and i'm absolutely disgusted by it

Did you turn off the phone and turn back on after uninstalling file manager? That's what I needed to do before animation lags went away.

Ug. So I did the RUU update. First I backed up all my data using Titanium Pro and My Back Up Pro. then, I made a complete Nandroid backup just in case with Clockwork Recovery Mod.

Then, I did a factory reset and flashed the RUU. Boot up, and now my phone doesnt recognize my SD card, so I lost all my data.

Weird thing is that I used the HTC photo gallery widget, and it recognized that I had data on my SD card, because it gave me the option to display pictures from it, and there were shots that I took today available, however, once I tried to click on them, it gives me the no SD card error.

I dont have another micro SD to see if its the card or phone that is borked, so I guess it's off to Verizon tomorrow to get it looked at.

Now, I have to figure out how to get S-On with no SD card (if the phone is the problem).

I just installed this RUU. I will report back with my findings...

Hey all, I've been using the new update for about a day now and no problems to report. I haven't timed the alleged faster charging but I can confirm the phone is faster than before (which is hard to imagine).

Also, I decided to put together a consolidated HowTo guide for anyone interested in a very noob friendly walkthrough. It's a consolidated list of other guides I found online, plus my own instruction.

EDIT: Here is the thread with the guide http://androidforums.com/htc-incredible/213829-how-guide-getting-new-update.html#post1847469

does anyone know when we can expect this update?

I've been working indirectly with verizon and htc to get bluetooth support for an accessory my company provides (bodybugg) and we've been told to expect this to begin rolling out on the 11th of november. take it for what it's worth.:)

I am talking about the reply, reply all, and star bar. It doesn't do the things Google said it would do. The bug they mentioned in this post hasn't been updated. Updated Gmail app in Android Market - Official Gmail Blog

I have a 2.2 OTA--absolutely NO text lag. I can duplicate the results in that video exactly. If you haven't installed any rogue widget or app, the only thing I can think of that might make a difference leading to periodic lag is that I have a class 6 Transcend microSD card (yes, it does affect things).

Having no microSD card installed is actually worse for performance than having a slow one installed. Don't believe me? Test it out for yourself.

i got a notification around an hour and a half ago for the system update and i pushed 'install now'... but it didnt get past the features part while the bottom said 'rebooting now...'

when i had ota 2.2 there were no problems updating. but this one wasnt doing anything... so i turned off my phone. now, the notification isnt popping up like its supposed to periodically and my phone keeps saying its up to date... even though its not.

also, my phone is rooted... so not sure if that did anything to affect it... but yeah.

other than that, it seems like the update in general doesnt really do anything beneficial for the phone itself. hopefully if someone has luck updating, they'll be able to better inform if there are any changes

(and i am hoping that future changes will fix my text lag. like people have been posting... it really is a bother that 2.2 messed it up while 2.1 was just fine...)

Hey i was just wondering if everyone got the rumored update that was supposed to release today? I'm rooted so i wouldnt get it so i was wondering if it actually went out?

Thought it was rumored to start tomorrow but I suppose today makes more sense.

Anyways... I have not received it either and I'm also stock unrooted.

Same thing here. I haave a notification, click on install now, does a countdown and it says the phone will now reboot to install the update...but it never rebooted. I restarte the phone myself but don't see the norification anymore, nor a confirm the update installed.

2.2 Rooted

Very happy with the update here ... no issues ... phone seems more responsive ... interested to see any changes to battery life ... happy with my bidallies 1500s anyway!

Those of you that are rooted, I'm almost positive you won't be able to install the OTA without doing some extra steps

As for my results after a few more days.....My GPS still takes me all over the world  and occationally it will open the wrong SMS thead still

(battery does charge faster)
