Nov. Maintenance OTA Update Discussion Thread

Will I have to do a factory reset after this upgrade? It was a big pain with the OTA to 2.2 and I don't really want to do another one. But I will if I have to.

I didn't really want to accept it in the first place, but I wanted those notifications to go away! lol. The only thing that benefits me really is the faster battery charging and not much, since I typically charge at night. I won't even comment on the uselessness of the vcast app. Don't use Slacker or Yahoo mail. Nor do I really send large files. Ah well.

I seem to have gotten the update pretty early, a little after midnight.

Seems to hold a charge better, didn't run down 10% in ten minutes after unplugging like it has in the past. Maybe it's a fluke, don't know, will need more time to be sure.

Vcast apps and Slacker I couldn't care less about.

I guess this kind of supports this guy's theory:

Please keep us updated.. I can't wait for this update if it solves the bump charge thing since it can get kind of annoying.

just got the update, waiting for the phone to reboot to see if i want to root this upcoming weekend and get rid of these junk apps.

my phone asked if i wanted to install, clicked install, and it said, will reboot in(with a countdown from 10 seconds) didn't reboot and theres no app store. any suggestions?

So is it ok to install this OTA with root on stock rom? I need the wifi tether, so I dont want to install it if I lose root or cause other problems. Anyone who is rooted install this OTA?

Hey everyone got mine last night around 1 am.. installed it.. everything seems the same except I am getting better call quality also. It seems not to be breaking up as much as it used to. Other than that. Slacker and Vcast I could care less.. It automatically made me update slacker so I have no idea why it was put on here just as crapware that cant be removed.. another amazon mp3.. unless u download music thru them.. I didnt have to factory reset I did on the other ota cause it was very laggy this one not at all..

just go to settings, about phone , system updates.. it should pop back up again..

tried that and it's not. i just reflashed back to stock 2.2 before the nov update. hopefully i get it again. does it matter that s-off?

To recap, asking what kernel version the update reported, and thanks to Mr. Boom:
2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16 is what mine says. I got the OTA
Yup, that's the ticket. That's the kernel that XDA's had for a while, which made the charging faster.

I'll be sticking with what I have then. From what I found on XDA, both KingKlick and Hydra already had the charge fixes in place. I'm good for now.

So, back when Froyo was released in September, the first thing I noticed was that HTC reduced the charging rate, reducing it down to a rate so slow that I could not even use the GPS and charge the battery at the same time. (The drain would be greater than the charge). I did a hard reset, hoping to solve this, but it was a kernal design by HTC. So I did the only honorable thing to do and 3 days later downgraded back to 2.1. I have been happy ever since. But now I hear rumors that the new OTA comes with a new kernal. Is this true? And if so, can anyone confirm that HTC has returned the charge rate back to normal? Seriously, the charging rate is the only thing holding me back from Froyo, (and well, maybe the over-sensitive landscape orientation. Seriously, is it just me or did my phone just love to change orientation with the slightest movement? But that's a-whole-nother story!) Ok....

Northern IN, got mine this morning, phone was on charger all night. On wifi.

Installed with no problems.
