Nov. Maintenance OTA Update Discussion Thread

That sucks. I mean it kind of defeats the purpose, if you ask me. I mean my brother was able to send me a video of his dog eating food off of a fork. But was much longer than the one I tried sending to him through text. How is this possible?

Probably was a different resolution thus affecting the data size vs time

It seems to only affect the HTC email or gmail app right now, the workaround is to use K9mail, droidmail, etc (neither of which I care for)

Still a real slimy move by VZW that killed the factory installed email program.

Good luck

I tried it with both the HTC and gmail clients, and I had no problem sending over 5mb with gmail. The HTC one wouldn't let me add 5mb of attachments.

Hm, that could be. I don't know. It was just kind of frustrating that my phone isn't able to send a video and etc if that makes sense. Oh well, not a bit deal. It's not like I can't do the option of taking video, plugging it into my PC and posting it on my facebook account if I really wanted too and etc.

Thanks for answering my question though. :)

Or going through the browser to Google's webmail.

That's good.

The HTC factory email is much more polished.

K9 does the job, I just don't like it very much.

No offense, you completely ignored the question with a "more polished" answer.

How is it more polished?

I have gmail, yahoo, and another email all on K9 and it does everything stock app does. Plus it sends attachments over 10 MB.

FWIW, you can just use K9 for the times you want to send videos. I don't know how often you're making videos on your phone and emailing them to people, but they're really the only content you're going to generate on your device that's likely to be more than 5mb.

Personally, I've never emailed anyone a video, so even if you do, how much would it hurt to just use k9 or the web browser version of your email instead of bitching about it in every thread in the Incredible forum?

Edit:
20 posts about this might be blowing things out of proportion a little:

Not to mention this thread, and its twin over on Android Central Forums (which makes 20):

First off, what is with you and a select few (your 2 buddies)harassing people over their issues when they get posted, how does that actually help anyone?

Email attachment size one of the major problems with the "updated" November software release, period.

Yes, you can use a workaround but a good operating device doesn't need workarounds!! DUH !!

Anyway, the outcome is you don't have a resolution other than we should all move to another program now...It works but still doesn't address the problem with the VZW manipulated software that used to be great before they got their slimy fingers on it.

And NO, not everyone wants to root to have their device work correctly again!!

Ever since the update, I don't have any syncing capabilities and can't download or update any apps. My phone is in serious limp mode. It feels like a clamshell LG phone again.

Alright everyone.... lets take a deep breath. Yes it is a issue, yes there are lots of people that just don't care and that this will never affect, yes some people are getting tired of seeing you say it EVERYWHERE,
YES YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO VOICE YOUR OPINIONS, yes MULTIPLE threads have been merged about this same topic which could be the cause of some peoples aggravation with the subject.

Truthfully if it something you can't live with then don't, people have offered work arounds... cool. If thats not for you also cool. But let me just say respectfully that I get it, you don't like this upload cap... we all get it. Really we do.

That being said let's all be mindful AND respectful of others please. If some are not then use the report button, don't derail the thread with flame wars.

Back to topic... I'm still heated my email is completely broken after the update, it won't even let me add my account to the htc mail app:mad::mad:

"heated" doesn't even begin to describe my frustration. Are you having issues with downloading apps?

Yes, i got the dreaded 'Low space warning' right after the update. No updates or downloads and still had over 450mb application space. Clearing cache(all of them) did nothing to help. I then completely deleted my yahoo mail account (via htc mail app) and it fixed everything. Only problem is now it won't let me add it back no matter what i try.

So far, I can still download apps but who knows.. there is definetely some major glitches in the software update!
I guess the one and only positive is faster battery charging .. but then again, it will probably end up reducing It's lifespan.

i've used both app market and appbrain to dl apps and neither one of them works. booooo

I tried deleting the yahoo account but still have the low data notification.

Try clearing caches??

For my browser, yes. I just haven't rebooted yet.

I was getting it mostly on java-enabled websites on Dolphin like my fantasy football league when checking stats. I cleared the cache on exit now and hopefully it will help.

Is there other cache I should be clearing?

Yup, done. I just haven't rebooted yet.

There's a good app called history eraser that can help clear some junk as well, don't know if that will help

I don't think I have the update. I arrived home from out of the country and it tried to sync but it never reset and I don't see slacker radio or any of the other VZW apps. I am rooted but I did not think that would matter since it still started the update process. Of course after reading this I guess I am lucky :-)

I have held off on downloading this update. I come into this thread consistently to find out if the update is worth it.

My main gripe with this phone, and a major one at that, is the battery life. Its terrible. Coming from a Blackberry, I could go a whole weekend without it ever going near a charger. I'm lucky if I get a day on this DINC.

I keep reading about it charging faster, but what about the battery life? Are we seeing better/longer battery life?

?

I keep reading this same comment, and I don't get it. Unless you're physically unable to charge your phone sometimes (like you're a Resident in a hospital pulling 24 hour shifts with few breaks) do you really NEED you're phone to last for days? I just charge my phone at night, like I have for as long as I've had a cell phone. And if I need to, I can do a quick charge during the day (which I never have to do, unless I forget to plug it in a night). Is that really a big deal for people?

EDIT: reading over it, this might sound a bit inflamitory (I just had a test in a Math subject most people have never HEARD of, taught by a sadist). I wasn't going for "Everyone's wrong but me" at all. I'm just asking out of curiousity...
