Nova Launcher

Lots of chat about this app. Just downloaded it, had a play and it made everything on my phone look shit.

Is there an idiot's guide for how to use it?

i find with most of the launchers the default icons are ugly, first thing i suggest if find a icon set you like on the play store, than its just a matter of changing you homescreen layouts

I also suggest trying Apex Launcher to me that one still keeps things looking similar as touchwiz

You can apply/edit any icon you want on Nova, including the Touchwiz icons.
Alot of usefull features in Nova, as well as most of the other third party launchers.

exactly, same for Apex hold the icon hit edit, than you can chose to the replacement from any other icon pack installed including TouchWiz

TouchWiz is the only launcher that supports icon shadows, that's why the icons on Apex or Nova look shite.

As a non-launcher user, sure wish more of you had posted images. I don't know what a bad-looking icon is, or what a good looking one is, or what diff a shadow on an icon makes. The std icons appear to have a very tiny little shadow under them - they look okay to me. I just have never figured out why I should have a launcher. Guess that means I don't need one. :(

they are more than just Themes or Icons

Gestures on the homescreen is great for instance I can Pinch In on my homescreen to do many various things including opening any application, change what swipe down does, swipe up..etc... i can have a scrolling dock, i can chage the icon grid layout from the standar 4x4 to other layouts like 5x5, change animations whan fliping betwen pages

The main reason I stick to TouchWiz is that is seems to be the only launcher to support S-Planner's full screen widget, unless somebody knows of an alternative?

I don't know why people hate touchwiz so much. Is it some kind of nerd fad to hate on touchwiz right now?

I rather like the look of everything the way it is. Is there some tangible reason I should be disliking it?

Nobody hates it. It is just a matter of competition. Yes, TouchWiz offers sufficient options, but there are other launchers offering better customization. Of course, everybody would have been happy with TouchWiz, had they not invented alternatives!

Why will my screen lock (pin) not work when using nova.
It worked fine with go launcher ex, but the screen will not lock at all now!??
Does anyone know?

I'm trying nova again after a factory reset. I went back to touchwiz last time after trying other launchers because it feels so much smoother and faster to me.

Really the only thing I like about other launchers is the scrollable dock to put more than four shortcuts in.

I don't hate on Touchwiz, I was perfectly happy with it before I decided to try a different launcher to see what all the fuss was about. After messing with Nova for a few days I was hooked, I'll probably never go back.

For me it's all about customization, and that's one main reason I am an Android user in the first place. Some people are fine with it, but I like being able to tap into my creative side and make my phone look however I want it to.
