If you can continue to patiently wait, you are a better person than I am. Personally, I'm happy that I didn't wait. I'm enjoying my prime every day, and each update makes it even more enjoyable. Ice Cream Sandwich is due to be released 1/12/12, so it would take you longer to get the prime than ICS. Good luck on your decision. I know I haven't regretted mine.
I would wait.. Asus announces tablets for 2012 as well as a 3G prime with GPS that really works.

I have a mobile hotspot, so my gps will work just as well as the 3g model they would come out with. Honestly, I would rather not have one with 3g.

If I wanted a 3G tablet, I would have bought one from Verizon and paid a monthly 3G connection fee.
Instead, I just use an app called GPS Tether on my Droid Charge, that I'm already paying a monthly 4G and data fee for and connect to my Prime.........GPS issue solved..................free of any additional charges !

Who cares about the 3G model. And it will probably come with the plastic backing and then people will complain about how cheap it feels but who cares, GPS may work.

If you already have a good tablet, wait. My guess is the Prime sees a rev change that fixes the gps and wifi, via a back cover design change (probably plastic window).
Just a guess, since changes cost money and companies can be stubborn like that. Must admit that I would already have a Prime, if did not have a Thrive 10". That said, if personally found the wifi weak (care less about gps), I would return it.

Sounds to me like our saying a shiny metal back that breaks one feature and hinders the performance of another is a better trade off than a fully working unit with a plastic back ? Ok
Sounds like good advise. I will add that if someone must have a tablet now and GPS is not a big concern to them then the I would get the Prime. The WiFi does not seem to be an issue across the board.

Though the actual wifi range of the Prime would seem an absolute, the apparent range is subjective, since depends on what people are used to, in their own environment. Some people could find the wifi fine, since not any better or worse than current devices they have used- in their own environment. On the other hand, others could find it is weaker, if their other devices performed better- in their own environment. Case in point, the Acer 500 (I had three of them to confirm) wifi SUCKED compared to my Gtablet, Thrive, phones laptops etc, in my own environment. Everything is relative as far as perspective

Dude, for someone who doesn't own a prime or plan on buying one, you sure like to jump all over wifi being an issue, which I don't think it is and I own one, anytime you get the chance ! We get "your" point, the prime's wifi sucks !

I could be mistaken, but my WiFi doesn't seem bad at all. I mean, granted, I'm using my Prime in my house and in my classroom which has its WiFi routers located in the hallways and I'm getting the same reception as my Nexus... At least according to WiFi analyzer. Do we know if this is a problem with certain units or widespread? Or, am I just a fool and I'm not understanding the problem that everyone is speaking of?... Cause that's always possible.
It could be certain units thats for sure. The 3 I have (had) were all the same in terms of range / performance. Unfortunately I did not think to check the serial number sequence to see how close they were. In my opinion if the shell design affected GPS then it only stands to reason that it may be degrading WiFi to some extent.
I definitely see a range issue compared to other devices and the ratio of performance decrease to distance is more noticable on the Prime. This is looking at numbers though. In reality I have no issue with the Wifi use in my home. Its not until I go outside and try to use it where other devices have no problem that I start to see the affect.

Please indulge me and reread my post: I gave examples and stated no such point. In fact, another thread I stated will test the Prime and IF equal or worse than the A500, wifi sucks, and if not, the wifi does not suck.
I need to test the device first, to see if good or bad. Should be doing so next week.
