Okay, so I have a G1 that needs replacing, and a T-Mobile contract that is up in May. Should I just go ahead and get the G2 and stick with T-Mobile, get some other phone on T-Mobile, wait until May and go to Verizon (wouldn't touch AT&T with a 10-mile pole), or just stick with what I have because there's some awesome new phone or new Android dropping soon that I should wait for?

Thanks!

you are going to have give us.. more info .. insite to your needs and requirements...

before we can give you good advice.

I use my phone to text, browse the web, pass the time on the train, etc. Don't use it for business or anything like that. I really like the keyboard on the G1 and would like to avoid a touchscreen-only setup.

For the people who say either option 2 or 4, please specify! (ie tell me what kickass thing is coming that I should wait for)

I picked opt4 because it seems that the companies seem to put out spring lines that are a step down from the summer lines. I think if you wait a few months there will be much better phones rolling out. I have an upgrade coming in march but gonna hold out as long as possible to see the phones that are going to be much better than the big hype right now. But thats just my opinion ;)

given that info... and that you been with the G1 so long....
and you want the KB...

G2 is perfect for you.

Always pick the carrier first based on coverage where you need it.

Hmmm, there is wisdom in what you say.

Any New Yorkers here? I'm in Brooklyn and T-Mobile has been fine, but if there's something better (does Verizon work on the subway?) I'd be open to it.

if your really set on a physical keyboard get the G2, verizon should be releasing a droid 3 soon but i feel the "droid" keyboards suck.

with that said switch to verizon, specifically travel up to where im at and buy it from me. february is gonna be a slow month (even with iphone)

I have a feeling in the second half of the year, we're going to have some rockin devices.

Any actual leads, or just a hunch?

TBH a keyboard is not an absolute deal-breaker, but any screen keyboard would have to be pretty user-friendly and unproblematic. Or conversely, if there were a phone that was completely out of this world and/or had enough bells/whistles to compensate the utility lost from not having a real KB, I would take a look at that.

On another note, is there anything on the software side, like a new Android build (Honeycomb....?), that is just around the corner for which it would be worth waiting?
