In order to build custom ROMs with the latest files, we want copies of:

/system/lib
/system/bin
/system/etc

And the boot image.

To create this, open a root shell (eg. with adb) and verify:

1. You have root. Your command prompt should begin with a hash mark (#) not a dollar sign ($).

2. You have busybox installed. If the busybox symlinks are present, running tar will bring up a help screen. Otherwise use "busybox tar" instead.

3. Your sdcard is mounted. Run mount and you should see /mnt/sdcard in the output.

Now, run this:

cd /system
tar cvf /mnt/sdcard/files.tar lib bin etc

And the boot image can be captured like this:

dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p8 of=/mnt/sdcard/boot.img bs=4096

Now pull /mnt/sdcard/files.tar and /mnt/sdcard/boot.img off your phone and toss them on the net somewhere.

Thanks!

Theres nothing we need in ICS as far as CM goes, we pulled what we could use. Thanks though.

Have you verified that the officially released files identical? I would expect that a rebuild would change at least some of them...

Actually, someone could take the whole /system and ramdisk, replace the kernel and modules with mine, and do another ROM like was done with the leak.

I'll take a look at those files later tonight or in the morning and check if any of them have changed.

Yea, I was gonna do a system dump tonight also. But we gotta find a way to remove the security flag for cwm. We have root access, so there must be a way.

Initial look indicates this is mostly the same bits as the 7-15 leak but with some tweaks.

Note I am only checking files that are used to build CM9, not the entire tree, and I haven't ripped the boot image apart yet.

in /system/bin:
qrngd does not exist in the official release (?)
netmgrd has a different md5sum.

in /system/lib:
liba2dp.so does not exist in the official release (?)
libdsi_netctrl.so has a different md5sum.
libqmi.so has a different md5sum.
hw/audio_policy.msm8660.so has a different md5sum.
lhw/audio.primary.msm8660.so has a different md5sum.

I'm rather surprised about the lack of liba2dp.so. But the rest of the changes indicate this was rebuilt using the same build tree as the 7-15 leak, with minor tweaks/fixes in networking and audio subsystems.

I am guessing they tweaked networking because they ran into the same problem with people not getting good data coverage.

One of the partiition blocks I'm guessing has the security script in it. I tried modding the boot.img and then on reboot got that security lock error again. I restored from my .cab v7 backup.

So which block partition has this and can't we push the v6 one to it to stop it?

nitroglycerine33 said he's waiting on source to drop, It might be our only way to get a fully functional build and be able to keep our bootloader unlocked

Micro, the entire boot chain is locked. Each partition checks the next one (from aboot all the way thru to the drm files in the OS itself. Yes, you could in theory flash the GB files, but no, i'm not going to explain it as flashing aboot wrong means your phone is true brick, never coming back.

So even if I push the say push mmcblk0p1 from the v6, mmcblk0p2 would still have the security check for the next block and so forth? If this is the case, this is sick crazy from LG.

yeah.. im guessing they screwed us like this because of so many spectrum owners going crazy about not having the update on time

It's because they have gotten too big for their britches. They dream of making the big leagues with the locked boot loaders and the nexus deal. But all they are going to do is p!ss off their loyal fan base (that would be me) and drive their business elsewhere, while htc and samsung laugh at them. If they get enough success to be a threat, they will get beaten back into the fringe markets by the big boys.

I know tons of HTC with locked boot loaders the evo shift had one luckily we had a method
