Now to be called the "Thunderbolt"

I think I'm the only one that really likes the name Thunderbolt. I can understand why some people don't like it, I hated the name Incredible at first, but I think it has grown on me a little. I don't mind Thunderbolt 4G either since I'll probably still call it Thunderbolt, although I wonder if in the end it they'll stick the Droid name on there and call it the HTC Droid Thunderbolt 4G, or Droid Thunderbolt by HTC or something ridiculous like that.

I am really excited about this phone, my one year contract is up in February and I'm probably going to get this phone on another one year contract but I'm a little hesitant right now considering it will probably have the second gen 1GHz Snapdragon QSD 8655, and knowing dual core phones on the way very soon after, and we don't know how long we'll have to wait for HTC to get Gingerbread on this thing. I'm also curious to see what the LTE plans will be for phones, since when I'm away for college I won't be in an LTE area, but when I'm home visiting my parents (20% of my time) I will be. I also wonder if they will have an unlimited plan, I will likely being doing some wireless tethering if it gets rooted.

Works with the ad campaign they have been running. But honestly I dont find myself caring too much about what my phone is called. It could be called the lamest shit ever, as long as it is an incredible phone it is all good.

Any more single cores would be pretty pointless at this point I really hope this isn't the case. Granted dual wouldn't really be needed right away but with dual cores coming in just a few short months why grab a single core and be stuck with it once the dual cores start to flourish.

old

this was reported last week-ish

i like it, goes well with the ad campaign

I look here almost daily and this is first I have heard of it.

Oh well........I don't like the name that much but I just want a HTC phone with a bigger screen on the VZW network.

I like it much better than the Incredible as a name. I've never liked pretending an adjective was a noun for my phone name.

If Verizon was cheaper, had unlimited data and allowed a new phone every year like Sprint, I'd move over for the ThunderMech or whatever they're calling it.

Verizon does have unlimited data.. and you do get a phone every year as the main account.

I thought they changed the unlimited data on Verizon, my bad.

I didn't ever get a new phone every year when I was on Verizon, which was for quite a few years up until '09.

They dont advertise it really. You have to be primary line on the account, and pay more then like 50 bucks a month, which anyone with a data plan does pretty much. I am pretty sure its not a new thing, but I know they are not so big on telling people about it. It seems like they use it when people come in and bitch and they "surprise" you with an upgrade.

We don't know if they'll have an unlimited data plan for LTE phones though, or how much the LTE phone plans are going to cost for that matter, but as for the one-year contracts, you don't have to be on the main line, I'm on a secondary line and I got a one-year contract last year with the Incredible and I'm going to do it again for this phone it costs $70 more than the two-year contract price.

i like it i mean its a name to me it really doesnt matter what they call it all im worried about is how the phone performs people worry to much about the little things if you buy it and dont like the name make up your own name for it lol

It's 70 dollars well spent to only be locked in for a year especially at the rate the technology is coming out now and days

Yeah it's definitely worth it. I am glad I got a one year contract cause this phone is lookin' sweet.

It's a strange feeling though knowing that my Incredible isn't obsolete yet and I'm going to be upgrading. The Incredible was my first smartphone, before I'd be itching for a new phone within the first year and I'd be stuck with the same dumbphone for another whole year. Now I'm wondering what I'm going to do with my Incredible, it's still an awesome phone and it cost me too much to just hand it over to someone else as a hand-me-down, but I still don't think I am ready to sell it on ebay or something, although I could probably get a good amount to help me pay for the Thunderbolt, or maybe I can find a use for it as my backup phone or something, lol. Decisions, decisions...

I have Verizon with an unlimited 3G data plan. The data plan costs me $20/month. I got this deal by negotiating when I switched my phone from corporate to personal earlier this month. It apparently was part of the previous corporate plan.

Why not just call it "Thunderstruck" and then use the ACDC song Thunderstruck for promotion and have an ACDC theme? Heck, I may reconsider it then ;)

swr2000 GETS it! :)
