Help NPS says "device not supported", want to use Odin but have no sd card

Please read this thread http://androidforums.com/samsung-i7500/8364-new-firmware-samsung-new-pc-studio-2.html (link to page 2)

NPS does not recognise the i7500 as a supported device for syncing and it is basically useless except for updating firmware.

To update in NPS, simply connect the device and click on the Update button at the bottom and select the device from the drop-down.
Alternatively follow the instructions in thread I linked to - I used odin to upgrade to H7 and then H8 successfully.

You don't need an SD card to use odin to upgrade.

with NPS updating device says the same thing

Device not supported

i have no market and want to update

but little worried about odin way cause i have no idea

any help??

you do not need to go to h7 than h8, you can go straight to h8

you do not need a media card either.

download odin with the files it needs (orion etc)
download the h8 patch file zip
extract the zip so you get the .tar image
open odin, put phone in download mode
put tick in box for "one package or one file"
select the location for ops file
on right hand side select browse where it says "one package" and point it to the h8 package .tar image

click start

ok instead of having to go all thru it again

can u give me a link??

also im running Win 7 x64 is that a problem? with drivers?

RellikZephyr

i flashed mine using the guide i posted and im using official RTM windows 7 professional x64

i installed the NPS first so it installed some drivers, put the phone into dev mode (settings>applications>development>) and let windows search for drivers. found and installed.

disconnected phone and put in download mode and reconnected. followed guide and it worked

however there is always an element of risk so be aware of this

installed mops whats that?

and i tried usb debugging mode and an unidentified device failed to install correctly

ok next question where do i get odin from

did search no luck

EDIT: and how do i back up everything before hand NPS no worky

RellikZephyr

it was a typo mate sorry.
the unidentified driver is the adb driver, usually windows driver search will find this. it did in my case
if it doesnt then you will need to download the android sdk and get the driver from it.
its in one of the guides on that forum post.

i would seriously suggest you read that topic though as like i said it is a risk and you may want to weigh up some concerns before you do it

the stuff stored on normal internal memory wont be lost. anything else will be as you should do a factory reset afterwards (contacts) but if you synced with google they should come back anyway.
afaik there no way of doing a full backup without using nandroid which requires rooting the phone

so contacts stored on phone will not be lost even after update and factory reset??

and where can i download odin from?

RellikZephyr

contacts will be lost as you need to do a factory reset, however if you synched with googlemail contacts then its safe as it will come back

What else do you lose when you do a factory reset? Everything? Apps? settings?

If you have an SD card in place, can you backup these settings before flashing and resetting?

Any news on the I4 firmware? :)

Follow the instructions here for flashing. The H8 firmware files are someone on this forum, do a search for it.

the firmware pack from that site will not download properly

finishes at 25mb (66mb file)

can someone please provide me with a link to get odin...please

i have H8 firmware already....pretty sure anyway

EDIT: found link to odin, update done thanks everyone! i now have market
yay time for apps
