number notification bubble?

I just got the note 3 after being an iPhone user since it came out but I wasn't satisfied with the limitations and the lack of growth of the iPhone so I decided to make the switch. On iPhone the apps that get notifications also get little bubbles on the app with a number in it that let's you know how many notifications are in that app. I noticed that the email app and messages app both have it but others (like my Skype app and university of Phoenix app) don't do it like they did on my iPhone. Is there a way to make other apps have the notifications on the app in a bubble? I couldn't seem to find it in the settings
 
Thanks. Ill look into that notification app. I didn't realize how heavily I relied on those bubbles, I just assumed because messages and emails had them that the rest of the apps on the android would since the same apps on my iPhone did.
 
You aren't alone, my sister kept asking me about that when she went from iphone to s4. Guess it's one of those things you don't notice as an android user since only my phone and messages have that, but she did use the email app instead of gmail for that reason.
