\o/ yay! i spiderwebbed my screen this morning!

i dropped my incredible & it performed a sensational faceplant on the concrete as i exited my vehicle at work this morning!



fortunately, it still works perfectly & the amoled underneath does not appear to be damaged, but the screen has become a bit rough to the touch, sometimes difficult to read & ugly to boot, as you can see...

no worries though-- i have the asurion insurance. but i don't believe i'm going to pay $89 for a probably refurbished replacement when i can just order this from amazon & save myself $60 by replacing the glass myself :D i could twice do far worse damage to it later this year & really need the insurance...
 
I'm lucky this hasn't happened to me. My Incredible has been thrown against walls and floors, along with being dropped countless times and I don't have a scuff even on the plastic.

If you do the repair yourself, you may have trouble filing an insurance claim later on. Assuming you don't tell Asurion that, they still might figure out after they start working on it. Just FYI.
 
Or if you need a replacement you could just say you lost it, since you don't have to send them the phone.
 
I did this exact drop a few weeks back...My phone was on my lap while driving, dropped it as i got out.

Texting and everything else worked perfectly...til i started getting glass splinters in my fingers...lol.
 
My son did the same thing while getting out of his truck. He thought he had insurance, but he actually was paying for and extended warranty. That was a rip off from VZW because he only had a one year contract, and the phone's regular warranty is 12 months. He gave me the Dinc, and I sent it to the company that HTC suggested for repair. It cost me $122 and it looks great. The only problem is that I can't do a factory reset on the phone - it keeps freezing about 2 minutes into it with a warning screen. I have to do a battery pull to reset it. VZW can't figure it out, and HTC says it needs to have the rom reflashed by a VZW tech in the store. VZW says they don't have techs in the store that can do that anymore. I am thinking that maybe he should take the newly repaired Dinc back into the store and show them that it's not working properly and get a refurb.
