'O2 introduces new smartphone tariff, goodbye unlimited data'

Exactly the reason I didn't upgrade with 02,them being shady about data put me right off and this cements that I made the correct decision in switching.

It seems the networks are starting to think that if people need the data plan more and more (with these latest capable phones) that they will also be willing to pay for it.

It will serve them right if they lose all their customers to T Mobile. I'm so pleased I'm on a 3GB data plan.

the 3GB data plan is that only for contract or pay as you go too ?

I can't imagine they'd be allowed to change your existing contract in that way.

What I'd like to know is what happens when you reach the limit in a month. I think the FUP concept has been twisted against the consumer more recently. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you're on the 500mB Three contract and you reach the limit you get cut off yes? Well that's not a FUP, that's just a simple limit.

They will be in a lot of trouble of they try to change existing contracts already taken out, glad I got my desire with an unlimited data bolt on for

its the android version of their unlimted internet, you can get android stuff on 1g as well (my mum is on something like 900 mins unlimited texts 1g internet, free desire for 30 a month)

Has anybody actually monitored their net usage? Because I use the internet a lot on my Desire as well as having it auto-sync with Facebook/Twitter/Email/Weather and I haven't used more than ~350MB in a month.

Would probably be double that if I didn't have WiFi at home though!
