A team genealogists now claims that Obama is not just descended from slaves, but from the very first black slave. According to ancestry dot com. They traced this from his mother, apparently.

How god awful stupid do some people think we are?
 
I've moved this to the PCA. It was a tough call - I can see this as a Lounge post, there's a lot out there that others want us to buy into that bears discussing. But given what year this is and given that I'm pretty sure that this will turn political on a dime, I elected for the move.

Anyone has a problem with the move, please PM me, my door's always open. :)

I think your right. I live in the South ( TN ) & topics like this are just bad news when they come up. But, hopefully the members here don't stupe to that level.

I was not sure where to put it, either.

Apparently, there is a big article or web site or web site article or article on a web site or reality program or commercial that said Obama is a direct descendant of the first slave and in the same article, they said it cannot be proven.

The idea among us intellectual thinners was why post the article as a factual piece and then say it cannot be proven?

But that was before coffee and key lime pie.

I think a political bent is assured. And as long as things remain civil, I see no problem. I just found the article rather odd.

I am still trying to prove I am descended from Vikings.

My mom's still trying to prove to herself that all of us kids are really hers. I'll suggest the Viking thing, see how it goes.

Things are good in my world, no complaints. :)

The reason I said what I said before was b/c there is still sadly alot of racial tension in certain parts of the country. If you mention Obama & slave in the same sentence the conversation can get ugly real quick. So hopefully this topic will stay on par & this will be a great thread. Carry on...

Nothing wrong with being descended from slaves. You cannot help it, anyway. Small minds are sadly, those with the biggest voices. My complaint is why Ancestry dot com wrote a piece they cannot prove one way or another.

Does Google have a sweeps week?

If so, then I am descended from Hitler's third floor castle trollop. Or a viking, preferably a viking.

Ancestor dot com, you silly gal :). And it is on the Internet so it must be right. A confirming instance that proves the assertion.

Before America traded in slaves, there were others. So who knows who the first slave really was.

Of course I would have preferred a more reliable source - such as the National Enquirer or the dearly departed News of the World. :cool:
 
These are the type of articles that comes out to put crazy ideas into the people's mind.

Since announcement of his candidacy, right wingers have been slinging mud and innuendo at the man raised largely by his White grandparents. They have called him a secret Muslim, a supporter of a Black racist church and pastor, a Socialist and a pampered insider.

Rush Limbaugh admitted shortly after the inauguration that he hoped President Obama failed. Or is this a lie???

Inquiry minds want to know!
