Help odd thing, no signal but can make a call?

have been trying to figure out what has been going on with all the high percentages of no signal my phone says happens everyday(settings,about phone, battery usage,cell standby).

downloaded "no signal alert" from the market and thought it was not working as there is a place at work where i have no bars, and in "about phone" it says 0 db of signal but the "no signal app" was not going off. so i tried to make a call and it went through?

seems the phone says no signal and counts that time in its percent, but there is signal?

I'm confused

when there is no signal, you will get the O with the slash instead of blank bars.

The cap, IMO, is pretty dang good at making calls when the signal is on the fringe.

The Captivate is so damn gnarly, it doesn't need a signal to make a call...
