Root [ODIN] not working for me - just crashes (solved)

Well, my roommate accidentally washer her rush with a load of laundry... its dead... :eek::( I'm afraid I can't be of any more help to you guys... its been fun. Maybe I'll get one of these for myself in a week or two... until then... good luck :)
 
Hi all ok i have a rush...my only and will be willing to test a working .tar ...one issues if i brick i cant get online as thats my only working phone unless i go back to the prevail or can get it back to stock.. im am very new to this and the only phone i ever rooted ..thanks to you all was my prevail...i can risk it and try..whose file would be best to work with

If i brick mine I still have my prevail to fall back on. we'll know in the next hour or so if this works. Let me play guinea pig lol.

edit..and ok yes new to forums..sad right..anyhow...i just looked at the original .tar file that shabby provided and its a few levels deep with a prevail folder being the last..i also looked at the new shappy file and the tesla file both have the recovery on the first level. shabby has a mds file extention whichn nis not in the newer odin .. is that or could that be an issue?

if you insist, use the Last link shabby posted in this thread as the tar file with the instructions in the other thread to flash with Odin. As you know everything you do is at your own risk. good luck.
 
tar.md5 is the proper ending i was just being lazy cuz it was a test version before :P

scared the crap out of me, i wa son my phone and scroll down and i see a post saying my condolences on the dead rush and im like "wtf?!?! how did cwm brick it?!?!" felt a lot better when i read the whole thread :P

ok if im not seen back shortly im dealing with boost to get my prevail back online...sure ill see ya soon tho...fingers X..pray for rush please :)
 
unfortunately a backed up image wont do me any good as it splits it up to save space.

so i take it the tar flashed? backups work? i suppose if you wanted to go for it you could restore it, worst case you have to use odin and stock stuff
 
shabby Ok i didnt see your post till after...im using my phone for internet...but as you see im back...

- .mds failed...
+ renamed file to .tar worked..
- after reboot i powered down and tried to enter recovery
+ reused odin and .tar and have a working phone...

lil scared to reset my phone but i know i have a work around..i can still use it unless it dies i assme..will try a reboot and if that does not work ...will repeat recovery install untill i can get a stock download...

Done : reboot was successful but ! warning on first samsung screen..but im still here :)
will now power off and try to vol. up and power to see what i get...

ps will edit this post as i go..
