I am currently updating mine as I type this.

Question: About how long does it take to completely update?

TIA

Loving the update...I like the look of the new unlock screen, contact, call log and just about everything else it updated. Looks good and can't wait to use flash!

Anybody see how to sync gmail beyond the previous 4 days? I think I just forgot where that setting is...

Another one stuck on M logo screen. Never rooted specifically to hopefully avoid such issues with the update. Tried at least 20 battery pulls with no luck. Off to Verizon...

Back from Verizon! Phone is bricked. They tried a battery pull and then a fresh battery, which they said usually corrected the problem, but no luck. They asked if I had moved the phone during the update, which I had from one room to another. They said that they have found during the earlier Droid and Incredible Froyo updates that they seem susceptible to problems if the network drops or you switch towers, even just moving the phone across the room while it is updating can apparently cause issues. They said to be sure to have the phone on a charger and leave it in one place during any updates.

So I have a new phone on the way, at least the wait is apparently now a couple of days rather than weeks.

That's weird, because I was moving 70 mph in my car while the download and the install took place. 30 minute commute so a few tower hand-offs had to take place. I think they're grasping at straws.

Sounds like you're getting a refurbished one instead of a brand new one. Maybe I'm wrong.
Since I'm within 30 days on mine they made sure to get the charger, SD card, packaging, etc. and enter it so that I would get a new phone. They and I initially thought it would be a longer wait but even the online info now says "Will be shipped by 9/24" and that is what their computer said as well so it looks like the wait has decreased significantly, at least until all the bricked phones from the update deplete the supplies!

They may be grasping at straws regarding the phone moving but I believe a Sprint HTC EVO OTA update encountered some similar issues and it is something most people can easily address if just to eliminate the possibility.

So now we all know we have been making a big deal over this 2.2. Nothing like making a big deal over crap. I'll stick with my rooted 2.3.9 that I am having absolutely no problems with. Suck on that Moto + Verizon.

Just got mine.3g fixed, now getting full time 3g.
Took about 1.5 hours on 1g.

How'd you get it fixed? I seem to be having some issues.

I wondering about this as well. Every once in awhile my signal drops to 1X for no real reason. I have been seeing since the update. It was happening a little before that but not this frequent. I already tried the whole *228 option 2 thing as well

My update notification said 2.3.1.5 or something like that. I know for sure it had 2.3 in it. Why not 2.2? haha. Just curious as to whats going on with my update :P

Simply updating my un rooted x solved the problem.

My OTA update went fine, but there are a couple of things I'm not too pleased with:

1. Before, screen rotation took a few seconds, but now it is almost TOO easy, so my screen will rotate when I'm not really rotating the phone, and then it takes time to then rotate it and rotate it back so it will be where it should have remained in the first place.

2. I don't like the white keyboard.

3. Also with the keyboard, it seems like it is now too sensitive, so sometimes I will type a letter and the letter will show up even though I didn't get the haptic feedback on that letter.

4. I still can't delete things like CityID or Skype. I don't use them, won't use them, and want them gone. Any ideas on how to achieve this?

2.3.15 is Motorola's system version/build number, 2.2 (Froyo) is the Android version number. I've noticed a ton of people confused with this, but it's just a case of Moto's version number being numerically similar to the Android version number, and probably people not specifying which one they're referring to. It has been speculated (but not confirmed, I don't believe) that the next Android version will be 3.0 (Gingerbread).

Hope that helps.

1. Don't really think there's much you can do about that, but I agree...it can be very sensitive at times.

2. There are some other keyboard options out there...I'm not familiar with any but just search the market for "keyboard" and I'm sure you'll find one or two you like. You might even search these forums for some recommendations. Sorry, but I just don't know any myself.

3. Maybe another keyboard will help with that, but I couldn't say.

4. You'll have to root to be able to uninstall City ID, and I think the same is true for Skype, too. I can't specifically remember if Skype came pre-installed, though, so I could be wrong on that. BUT be keep in mind if you remove any of the bloatware that comes pre-installed (City ID, VZ Nav, Backup Assistant, etc.), you'll have to re-install them to apply any future official updates from VZW. What a lot of people will do is rename the application's file extension from .apk to .bak to prevent the application from running, rather than completely removing it. You might want to check out this thread for more info on that: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...t-apps-apks-removable-non-removable-root.html

My update failed because I uninstalled bloatware. Re-installing it didn't work and after a factory reset the 2.2 update still fails! Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You'll need to sba back to 2.1 update 1, and then ota from there, and then root. There's a one click root thing already out, but you sometimes have to run it a few times for it to "take".

Motorola DID warn everyone that with a leaked 2.2 you would NOT be able to update to ota.
