Yes! Reserved mine. A little dissappointed that it is 249 and not 199. I guess they are trying to keep the HTC looking good at the 199 price point.

There isn't a damn Android to my knowledge that is priced over 199.99 for a new contract. This isn't good. They are just gonna keep raising the prices of these things if we agree to keep paying. I'll end up getting this bad boy cheaper at wirefly or costco or something.

I know it sucks that it is priced more than the EVO, but seriously this equates to only $2 more per month, over the life of the contract. Not too much to worry about IMO.

Exactly. So seems like we gonna have to pay $350 out of pocket and then wait 2-3 months for $100 mail in rebate. I was saving up for $199, and anything more than that is bit too steep for me. *disappointed* I will have to wait a little before I can find a cheaper retailer.

In my opinion you get what you pay for and this device is far superior to the Evo 45nm Hummingbird vs 65nm Crapdragon and TFT LCD vs Super AMOLED, I haven't even mentioned this thing packs the fastest GPU in the industry right now and is capable of 90 million triangles per/sec.

I will most likely wait til the holidays to get this. By then there will be a sale SOMEWHERE. But this was a bad move. Just goes to show u where Sprint is heading in prices.

I agree. I reserved mine, but I may actually end up waiting to see what some of the third party vendors do with the price after it is released.

On the flip side, the "jesus"phone is going for $299 in it's 32GB format and this will run circles around it all day long!

Taken from another message board. Gotta love good 'ole perspective and common sense...

I suspected $250.

Everyone who is upset with the price needs to think of the financials for Sprint/Samsung. They're including extra hardware features (QWERTY, front-facing cam, rear flash) that the Vibrant & Captivate don't have, all the while serviced on cheaper plans. You can't hit the margins on both sides of the equation (higher spec'd phone & cheaper plans) and expect the phone to be the same price as their competitors.

As soon as I saw that Sprint's Galaxy S would be a QWERTY slider, I knew there would be a price differential relative to the other 3 carriers' Galaxy S models. When it retained the front-facing cam and added a rear flash, it was obvious.

I said it would probably be 50 more because of the qwerty and because that's the way it was with the Moment and Hero back last year.

Its the way it was with:

1) The moment and hero
2) The HTC Touch Pro and the Diamond
3) The HTC Touch Pro2 and the Diamond 2

I was just about to post that! But yeah, I think the streak comes out tomorrow and it will be 300 on contract and 550 off I think...

$18/mo for the Evo vs $20/mo for the Epic. Not bad... not bad!

Fingers crossed for better build quality than HTC and continued support throughout the life of the phone!

If you don't want to wait on a rebate - I hear Radio Shack and Best Buy are two places that take it off at the store. I think their pre-orders start Friday (8/13) for the same release date. That could help your finances...
