lol, i have a feeling HTC are doing this on purpose. They use anticipation as a form of publicity. Unfortunately if they overdo it, it will start to have a negative effect too. You can be sure their PR departments read the major forums and are just smiling.
They are playing with your mind:confused:

Personally, any time I hear about a launch of Froyo, I won't believe it unless the source is this page:
http://www.htc.com/www/press/2010.html

Also, thought I would mention that the support section gives different results according to the country selection, example:

http://www.htc.com/www/ supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=312&act=sd&cat=all

the outlook update only

http://www.htc.com/au/ supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=312&act=sd&cat=all
the outlook update & the special telstra GPS update

which means of course that if the software gets released to just one region, then we might be able to manually download it from that region's support page. Although there might be downfalls to that, like branding, foreign languages, etc.

How do you do that? I don't see the point in having a branded Desire on T mobile since it doesn't actually offer anything. As far as I can tell it's only the logo on boot-up!

I'd love to get an unbranded device so I can get HTC updates earlier. Right now I have to wait for Google to release an update, then HTC to tinker with it, and finally wait again for T Mobile to do whatever the hell it is they do. So many cooks!

Well I've found some guides on how to do this with my Orange branded handset and it doesn't look too complicated.

What I really want to know is whether I can backup the current ROM that's on it first (i.e. Orange branded 2.1) so I can restore it later if needed. Without this, if I have a problem with the phone, I won't be able to restore the original branded ROM before returning it to Orange which will probably be a problem.

Can such a backup be made?

The update will be released today I believe. For how many? No idea.

My reasons for thinking this: Mark Moons posted on Twitter that it was coming on Friday; it didn't, but when Engadget approached HTC for comment, HTC said it was coming this weekend.

Personally, if I ain't seen it by 21:00gmt I'm going back to one of the custom ROMs with sense. Which is the best custom Froyo out there?

Getting sick and tired of this bull crap now:mad: Ive only just got this phone and i do prefer it over my iphone 3gs and my wifes 4g, but if they cant keep people updated and mess about i think people will go else where.

just my 2p's worth:rolleyes:
