What does the voda360 specific do? Is it 'just' a forced home page or is it worse?
 
Its just a 360 homepage.
To be honest its no slower and the apps take up next to no space. Still not best pleased tho.

Oh well, you live and learn i spose......
 
The problem is, the more branding they put on the phone, the more of a delay it causes when future updates are released.

finally got it sorted late last night. It occured to me that as 1.21.405.2 was not installing, that there must have been a problem when I rooted the phone a week or so ago. So I found a previous firmware version on Google and installed that over the top of the newer one.

That installed fine, so looked at the updates and BINGO, there it was.

2.2 All downloaded and installed now.

It did wipe all my contacts, but I redownloaded Handsent SMS and somehow this made all my contacts come back
 
Could you give figures for the apps space please?

It's just I checked them on the market and they're like ~1.5 mb and people are saying they break stuff like contacts and sms.
 
Hey guys.

My software number is : 1.15.110.11 which means it is branded (t-mobile) so I need to debrand the phone and get generic rom if I don't want to wait t-mobile for froyo update.

My question is this. I am using my phone with another carrier (it is unlocked) and I am wondering if I will need some code to unlock my phone again after I do that debrand thing.

If anyone can help me about this it would be great. Thanks.

I'm from denmark and here we do not have paid market so then i had my hero with marketaccess i have buy apps and on desire with 2.1 i could download them, but now then i go to market and download i can see the paid apps but then i will download them it says it cant be fund on desire with 2.2....


Some help pls :confused:
 
I was looking forward to shifting most of my apps from the phone memory to the SD memory. However, it appears that most apps do not allow you to do this. I have been able to do a few, but probably only about 5% of the apps on my phone.
Pointless.....

yes the devs need to update there apps for it to work

Are you referring to the installation instance of the app going to phone and not SD?
If so i have a few apps that have gone to the phone, if you goto
Menu / Settings / Applications

click on the app in question and see an option to clear data / Move to SD, click on move to SD and it moves to the SD card.

No, I am referring to apps already on my phone. I have been through the application manager selecting each app. As I said previously, most of the have the "move to SD card" button greyed out.

Exactly, i can't and i miss this feature coz honestly let's face it, music on the Desire does not make for the best of listening.
Maybe if we can tweak setting with FroYo it could lead to a better experience

I use MIXZING music player which has a graphic equaliser in it. Music now sounds superb through an aftermarket set of Sony buds.... enjoy! ;)

My experience so far:

1. Phone seems a bit faster.
2. 720p video seems to work quite well - you have to remember it is a phone - not a video camera <g>
3. The ringtones did get a bit confused with my music tracks after the update, but easily sorted.
4. Battery life is definitely improved
5. Update process was v. simple, all my existing apps were still there and working when it had finished.
 
I got 2.2 today on Vodafone Ireland, no branding or bloatware added here!

Love the fact my phone now turns OFF instantaneously!!
 
I got an update on my phone yesterday. It's added some new things such as flashlight, App sharing, Wi-Fi hotspot. My phone is with orange and I have been reading that this Froyo update isn't out on locked phones yet and it also has the itunes sync which i don't seem to have....
So can anyone know what this update is??

If I make the update to 2.2 will I lose all the apps installed so far or the settings of the phone?sorry if this question was asked before...

That seems like Froyo.

Check the software information in the settings just to be sure :)

Where did you get your phone from? CPW/mobiles.co.uk sell unbranded handsets along with the contract.
