Help *Official* Atrix Problems/Issues Thread

I see its been a while since anyone posted here... but iv got an issue iv been going insane after... had seen a person or two mention it here... the issue with the touchscreen glitch is so damn terrible... its made gaming completely impossible on the atrix... searched lot about it and unfortunately not found an answer...
but what I feel is its not a hardware issue... I think... rather hope... because I used all those touch tester apps to see my screen if it has any dead areas or whatever and it seems to be fine... its just when I need the multitoich the screen goes crazy in any fps or something... has anyone cone across a solution for this or heard of any fix... or is it surely a hardware problem and I should get rid of the phone...??
 
Hi I have put a cheap 32GB MicroSD Card in my Atrix and am getting nothing like its full capacity. Is there a mimimum standard for the card that I need to get to realise this full Capacity? If so what is it?
 
Where did you buy the SD card from? If it was from someone less than reputable, then it could be a smaller card re-labeled as 32GB. Also, did you format the card after putting it in?
 
My problem is simple , the phone shuts down when I carry it in my pocket. does not respond to power , have to pull batt. & put back to turn on. I can not deal with this I have to know when I am getting a call or text.
Thanks for any help , really like the phone , would hate to send it back.

I bought the card off eBay, Yes I formated the card after installing it.

Don't have long before I have to keep this atrix or send it back , sure wish I could find out if it is something I am doing.

That's really strange. Do you feel your phone getting really hot in your pocket at any time? If an app is really power hungry and using a lot of resources, it (might) caused the phone to get really hot to the point that the phone's safety switch turns on and the phone powers off. An example would be map/mp3 and a load of other apps are running at the same time. The only issue is that as your phone auto powers off, you lose the app usage data that your phone has :(

Does the phone auto turn off at any other time when it's not in your pocket? Is this only a pocket occurrence? If you disabled the lock screen and accidentally pressed the power button and powered off the phone in your pocket.

If you really want to know if it's you or the phone that's at fault. Simply do a full factory reset and use it like normal with minimal apps downloaded and see if the auto power off persists.

Thanks for the responce , this is the second atrix from att , the first did get hot , but I had not had it long enough to put any apps. on it.
I did not change anything on the first phone , it was in my pocket , just like my old one , in a very hot truck without air. It was very hot those days.

The second one , I set a pin , I set the lock if it is in a pocket thing , because I was not going to buy a case for it yet , I got an old camra case & used it & not pocket. It has not been as bad but still will be turned off when I check it. I would not say it is HOT , but real warm.

I tryed getting help from motorola , the first thing they ask is , if I have tried changing the Batt. I don't even want to guess what one will cost for this phone.
Too bad I realy like this phone.
What will I lose if I do the factory reset ?

I recently upgraded my system software to the latest version 4.5.91 and the android version to 2.3.4. I am not a developer/programmer, but since then, I have lost several icons on my home screen including my trash. Can anyone provide some answers to this. Thanks
 
Can you tell us what you mean by "trash?" Android isn't like Windows OSX or Linux desktop OS', where you delete files and send them to a trash can or recycle bin. Was this an icon or widget for a specific app, and what is the app's name? Anyth8ng you can do to clarify will help us respond more accurately. Thanks!

TOO , bad , I sent the atrix back , maybe they will get the bugs worked out of it & their service ,,,, got an i4 , works great,

Sad to hear that you had to send your Atrix back :( Enjoy your i4 and hope you'll give Android a spin again :)
 
I have some minor guips about the phone, nothing that is going to make me turn it back in. I have had one issue come up this past weekend that was a first time occurnace which i am going to keep and eye on. At the end of a YoutTube video the phone froze up completely. Could not exit the app could not do anthing inclduing turning it off. I had to remove the battery to get it to turn off and reboot. I have since played some other videos with no problem.
 
I've had my Atrix for just over a week and like it a lot. However ... I seem to have a couple of recurring problems.

I'm using the Koi wallpaper from the App Store and every so often I'll wake up or boot the phone and it has reverted back to the default screen.

My other problem is Apps disappearing from the Home screen. Again, waking it or booting it, some icons are missing. I have set up groups for my apps in the last day or two and so far nothing has gone missing but it was really annoying.

Last problem, again waking the phone, seconds later it will go back to sleep mode without any other action on my part.

I someone suggests doing a full reset on the phone, I just did one Tuesday because the phone didn't like a couple email servers I was using and that's what Tech Support suggested. It had no effect on the items described above but it did fix the email problem.

Thoughts? Take it back and swap for a new one? It works perfectly 95% of the time.

Have you tried an alternative launcher to see if you still have that issue? Try LaunchrrPro, and ADW, Go Launcher to see if you like one of them.

After a factory reset, what apps have you downloaded before you noticed the redraw issue and screen time out? Sounds like a software issue so you can return it for a new one of you want.

Haven't tried an alternative launcher since, being new to Android, I haven't a clue what it is and why I would want it.

Today, the phone booted with a number of apps and widgets missing from the home screens and some of them vanished from the phone completely.

I returned it this evening for a fresh one. It has already hiccuped a couple of times but I hope it was just feeling out how far it could push me!

I'll give this one a week and if it still hates me I'll be looking to change manufacturers.

An alternative launcher gives you more choices to customize than the stock launcher. You can change the app you have on the dock, add like 20+ apps in there. Change the style of the app drawer, hide the notification bar, have shortcut swipe to do an action etc etc.

Yes, but after a week or so it stopped, I think the GB just needed to settle in...but I still have a gray box with an E, no service unless I am home connected to my home WIFI

Does anybody else feel as if Motorola has too many contact books and why it is running Facebook twice??? I feel they go above and beyond bloatware!

I have now found out that the problem was not the card but that the later files I had loaded onto the card were *.mpg files that Atrix did not recognise and not *.mp4 like the rest.

Yes, mine and my wife's both restart randomly, usually when starting an app. Common example is zynga poker, happens often with that one, but other apps too occasionally. Wife has issue with browser becoming non-responsive, and pictures taken disappearing from the gallery also.
