Root Official bootanimation.zip thread

Willster419

The Casio Smartphone Guru
Hello People who have purchased the Casio Smartphone!

I would like to think that this is the official thread on bootanimations and uploading your custom bootanimation!
"But Willster419, we have a weird bootanimation system in the framework-res.apk file!"
NOT ANYMORE! I have been able to make the Commando "bootanimation.zip" compatible! All of those "boot animation changer" apps will now work! Here are your options:

First things first: Here is a "binary recovery" if you will. In the case of your system becoming all crazy, or you want to reduce boot time, this is the original bootanimation bin file so you can go back to the good old boot animation.
Dev-Host - bootAnimationRestore.zip - The Ultimate Free File Hosting / File Sharing Service

If you think, "WOW, this is cool, but I don't want any sound." Then take this one. It is a bootanimation that I found called "paranoid android" no sound, lots of colors! Also the binary is from a guy on xda and was for the Galaxy S2. Thanks to him for compiling and posting!

*NOTE I have found that this binary takes longer to boot the the other one

If you're like, "WOW, this is cool, but I don't want any sound right now, maybe later." Then download this version. It is the same boot animation as above, but with a different binary. This one is a faster, more "generic" bootanimation binary and has the ability to play sound when an mp3 is put into a certain location. You can add sound to it if you want. The original location of the binary is unknown to me, I tried hours trying to find where I got it from. oh well. Thank you, random kind individual!

*This is the same binary in my RedPill ROM*
**The sound file should be named and put in this location: system/media/audio/ui/Bootsound.mp3 (The capital B matters!!!)

If you are thinking, "WOW, this is cool, I want A boot animation AND SOUND!" Then I have the bootanimation for you. This one was made my me, with the same binary above. With this one coming from another hit from PSY, you are bound to like it. You should. I spent 2 hours just trying to synchronize the audio and video. ;)

One of the new animations stay on a little longer then the regular binary. IF you have sd-ext enabled, you WILL NOT see a difference. If you don't, then it will take about another 15-25 seconds, if you download the GS2 binary.

no no it's not ignorant. it's a good question. just download the file and flash it in recovery. If you want to customize you own bootanimation.zip file, then just put it in /system/media. happy booting!

No, I think I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this stuff. For example, when you say to flash a file in recovery, where am I flashing it to? Do I use ADB via command prompt? One of these days I'll learn it, but I'm still really new to this (just rooted my wife's phone this evening, and I'm going to do my kid's phone tomorrow).

Actually, your videos are pretty good, so if you have one of those available it might help me understand it better.

Ok, that is understandable. Here is what i mean by "flash"
1.) Download your zip file choice and put it somewhere on your sd card in your phone.
2.) Enter the commando's recovery mode*
3.) Select the menu option, flash zip menu->choose from sd card.
4.) Locate said zip file, and press menu to install!**
5.) Reboot!
*If you have the monkeytools themed ROM, just press the power button, and select the menu option to go into recovery. If you have the stock ROM, then you could:
connect via adb and type: adb reboot recovery
install a terminal on the phone and type: reboot recovery
go to titanium backup and go to menu->reboot the device->reboot to recovery mode.
**Any "flashable" zip file you download from me will first tell you if you have enough space on the system partition. If you don't it will reboot, and nothing will happen. In which case you need to remove some stuff on the /system partiton.

#I have a couple of vids in line to make, but i guess i could make one after my Finals are done for school...

Is this only limited to what's included in the zip files you've provided, or can I download any boot animation and make it work?

I'm partial to the Android Particles animation. I've got the cooked zip file from the Kitchen, but no idea how to put that on the phone.

If you want to add your own "bootanimation.zip" file, then you can do so by putting it in my flash-able zip file and replacing the one that I originally put in there. The only thing to that is that you loose the ability to accurately tell you how much space it requires. If you would want to update that, then open the check_space.sh file via notepad or notepad ++ (NOT Word pad) and change the "$requiredSpace" variable to what it then would be.
If it helps, you can send me the bootanimation.zip file and i can make it flash-able for you.
Sorry if this is a bit confusing.

Fix links please. Links to malware.
the links are dead. most of the time i will look at the date of the thread. this thread was created in 2013. most folks who use a file sharing site rarely supports file sharing for that long. i used to have some files on a file sharing site, but those are long been dead. tbh i can't remember what sites they were on. nor do i have the files that were on there. hopefully the op will notice your post. and hopefully the op will still have the file you want.

.....but don't hold your breath for too long.

Thank you for that. I hope I get a file.
Dev-Host is dead unfortunately.
