Root Official CM11 Nightlies

Thanks that helps a lot! I still might give it a go. In all truth it not that much to go to youtube through the browser and the battery life doesn't sound much better than mine is now. And I dont use netflix so no issue there. And I know being how big Play is that you can just download a third party app to use the camera. And when you reference the past 5 nightlies, does that mean that the camera works for 1-13-2014 and 1-17-2014? If it does then I may very well download that version later this morning...if not then I can deal with the above mentioned. I have android programming experience so I might see if I can look at what is going on with Youtube causing it to not work. :)
 
I feel like if you want to download a nightly other than the latest one download the 1-17-2014 or the latest one up to that date. But do keep in mind that the difference between 1-17-2014 is significant increase in fluidity. So just keep that in mind . So to recap 1-22-2014 Fluid but some bugs with camera.

Me personally I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the CM team will fix this issue with the stock camera app very soon.
 
For anyone on the latest nightly (1-23-2014 as of today) is the default camera app working for you?Or is it just my Spectrum? In my testing I have realized that the force close issue is only present when using the back camera not the front facing one. As well as does anyone have a recommendation for an alternative one preferably one with a clean and simple ui. Thanks :D
 
George, have you tried out the unofficial builds in D2A's thread? I can tell you that the 1-18 build, at the end of the thread, has been my daily driver without any issues, except for the hwoverlay part.
 
I tried experimenting with some of the nightlies as well. Found out that I had the same issue too George with my Spectrum not just yours. Front camera fine, back camera crashing. I went back to 10.1.3 stable for right now. Really disappointing in CM with this. They are way behind. I still want something not too terrible though with the benefits of android 4.4. Death2all, or anyone for that matter, where can I get the build at? Is your code built off CM code just more stable or is it completely different, just want to know if the features are similar with CM.
 
Okay thanks I will flash this one....already downloading now. 5.3/186 mb gonna be a while. LOL XD. From the looks of it as I understand it right, I will have to update CW Recovery as well for it to work won't I as I'm on version 6.0.1.1 or will my version work? Also which version of GAPPs did you use?
 
Only thing is that I downloaded a whole zip file that installed my version of CW Recovery for me and I installed cm 10.1.3 with no problems there. I don't want to brick my phone though and so I would rather not mess with CW Recovery if at all possible. :)
 
Trying to install games on Spectrum. Two games can't install even on SD card and ROM storage space over 500Mb remaining.

George did you have the same issue with D2A's rom or no? From what I recall the SD card mounting issue was fixed. SO maybe its just that game?

No more camera issues. YouTube works great. No random turn offs in the middle of the night. And the SD card mounting issue has been fixed so I do believe its the official nightlies due to the fact that I tried installing an app on the nightly had the same. Error but on D2A rom it installed just fine (:

They still haven't merged my patch with the nightlies. The only way to fix this is to download and run an unofficial build. I recommend 1-18-14, until I post a newer one. That probably won't be until I fix the HWoverlay issue though.

I was hoping this CM11 will work with MHL to HDMI on HDTV. IT does not work on my Spectrum connected to HDTV. When I trying to play a recorded clip in stock video player and player stopped playing after one second in beginning of clip. I can go back to gallery without a problem. HW overlay disabled and enabled not helpful. On HDTV just says no signal. I recall MHL was working on 10.1.3
 
So what's the status on the latest nightly? I've been on the unofficial version and I'm loving it (: but how's it going on the official side?
 
TDM just edited my change, today, and I reviewed his edit and found it to still be functional. If all goes well, it should get merged in a little while. I'll keep things updated as I find out.
 
Any chance of getting App2SD working? My Spectrum is running out of room on the phone but I have 64gb SD card near empty, and unused :mad:
 
What's the difference between the unofficial and official version of today and the newest nightly? (: I'd really like to go to the official version but I don't want to give up stability or my camera so is it safe to switch over? (:
