Why, when this thread will be replaced by a release thread in less than 48 hours? We won't be in pre-release mode anymore at that point.

Verizon will make exceptions for upgrading 1 to 2 months early if you call them (and have good payment history), however you don't get discounted pricing applied, you have to mail in the rebate. If you order online you get the instant rebate, so I'd just wait.

Well I'm eligible for the annual upgrade on one of my lines, and I have never missed a payment in the years I've been with Verizon (auto pay with my credit card).

I really want the phone on launch day, and don't mind if I have to mail in for the $100 debit card as long as it ends up being $199.
 
If you are a Verizon customer and you want to upgrade early? Do you have to pay full retail for the phone you want to upgrade to? Or do you get a discounted price? Or can you like trade your current phone in towards the new phone you want?
 
I stopped by a Veriozn store today and asked them a few questions.

For sure being released thursday.

Upgrades for original droid owners would depend on sales.

They had a case, I tried it on my droid 2 and it fit horribly. The salesperson said she might not even sell it because of how poorly it fit. It looked like carbon fiber but it was just plasticy.

I asked a few more question but I can't seem to remember them.

Oh, I remember another. I asked what were the weirdest things they've ever found on one of the test phones in the store. I then checked the most visited sites on the droid x and saw a couple porn sites on there. The rep informed me that people often ask if they can view porn on the phone and the ones who don't that are too shy check for themselves on the phone when no one is around. Completely unrelated, I know. I found it interesting, though.

I would assume any website could be viewed on these new phones, with full flash support on Froyo. It creeps me out though that some people are checking out porn sites in the middle of a store like its totally normal.
 
The Best Buy by my house has a OG Droid on display, but some prick locked the screen and the Best Buy employees don't know how to do anything about it. It's been like that for weeks. I had been using it to get a feel for Android when I was bored.
 
JUST ORDERED THE DROID 2 ONLINE! Got an INSTANT rebate and free overnight shipping! After I considered everything, I assumed this would be the best because I don't work tomorrow so I'll be able to wait for the shipment and activate my phone. I don't think any local Verizon stores offer the Droid training either, so I'm not really missing out.

Hopefully it comes earlier in the day! Now I can sleep in and have some awesome Droidy Goodness delivered to my doorstep!

*My other line has 11 months until upgrade pricing is activated.... hmmm, I wonder what will be available in 11 months? Probably some 2ghz 1080p recording 10mp 4g craziness! ;)

My brother bought the Droid1 last November, and got an early upgrade to the X!! So its definitely possible.
Just remember, stay professional and speak strictly business, You along with everyone else is what keeps VZ afloat. They want to keep you happy. :D

No dice today, just got off the phone. The girl I spoke with said that Annual Upgrade doesn't apply until 13 months (hmm? annual?). She said she is usually able to push it through 30 days early. Once I told her that the Annual Upgrade policy states 12 months, she said that I should call back tomorrow, and they should be able to do it.

Tomorrow is 30 days from the day I got my Touch Pro2. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try again.
Sometimes you don't get the "right rep" on the phone.
You should have been able to order today.
If I get someone on the phone, that doesn't wanna help me, I professionally request to speak with a manager.
 
I feel like a kid on the day before Christmas. I am going to get up very early tomorrow, get myself some coffee and then head over to Verizon first thing in the morning. I am hoping to get there around 8:45 just before they open up.

I'll post up some pictures...

Basically, since I'm brand spanking new to Android (never even held an Android phone) I am most stoked about speech to text, I'll attempt to make a post tomorrow on here just using the power of my voice ;)

I am really hoping to use the rest of the day after Fed EX shows up, just getting familiar with the phone. Android Life PMd me some great ideas for apps... and truthfully I'm also excited about being able to game on my phone finally!

Is there an awesome functional Facebook app for Android?

I'm actually thinking about switching from my Droid 2 to the X.
 
Nope, it preforms the same as the X. I was comparing them in a Verizon store the other day. Some people say that size is too much for them, I actually kind of like it.
