I just went to the website on my phone and DL it there. puts it in your dl folder. You will need to move it to the root of the card. then just follow the steps to install. Easy as pie!

All I did was upload the file. I know it took a little while after the Verizon logo came up for me. God, I hope your phone didn't get messed up Smacky.

Anybody else using my link have problems? Let me know so I can pull it if there are any.

I just tried your link, said it was finished downloading. When I checked the size it was only 45mb

Just had really bad phone dialer lag on the new leak and had to reboot to clear. Sigh. Also, the no-sound issue still exists. The phone does seem a bit more responsive. I'm going to switch to Home and see how it goes. I still think Sense uses battery way faster than home. At least I'm not getting the Google sign-in at reboot. Radio bars seem the same to me.

I updated my phone from 1.5 to this new 2.1 without a hitch. Before I switched, I had all my contacts linked to Facebook, and their profile pictures were used as their contact photo on my phone. The contacts are still linked to the Facebook pages, however, the photos are no longer showing up anymore  Any suggestions?

Have you logged into facebook yet? I had this same thing but when I logged into facebook on the widget it was fixed.

#2 : I had been using AppBrain and had the "My Apps" page loaded on my computer PRIOR to doing the update. I didn't touch this page until later... I installed the AppBrain app on my phone and did a sync. From the phone, all AppBrain saw now was the 10 apps on my phone. I went back to the page on my computer (DO NOT REFRESH THE PAGE!) and figured that if I refreshed, then this page would only show 10 apps as well (I DIDN'T TEST THIS UNTIL LATER!), so what I did is Selected ALL apps on that page and ADDED them to a NEW list. I called it "Apps prior to Update". This list now shows ALL the apps I had PRIOR. As suspected, after a refresh, "My apps" match what is on the phone... but I now can go to the new list and install whichever apps I choose.

So... to protect your apps, I would suggest doing a sync BEFORE you install the update. Then select ALL apps and add them to a NEW list. Verify AppBrain has both lists. Then update without worry.

I don't know if I didn't something wrong and lost my market apps or what, but I know this method saved my App list.

You might not have the same issue, but if you do, this method saves some time.

YES! Definitely make a backup copy of your app list. You can also specify one as "private" and one as "public," for instance if you don't want to share ALL your apps in the AppBrain thread here in the forums.

That's too bad about the dialer lag. I don't make enough phone calls to know whether I still have that problem too...but I guess I'll put Call Log Trimmer back on and keep things tidy to prevent the lag.

I'm really glad I don't have to deal with the Google sign-in anymore. I used Home the last few days and the battery life was great. I'm back on Sense now with this new 2.1, and I wanna give it a shot to see how much of a difference the battery life is. If it's bad, I'm switching to Home permanently.

Man, I got some vicious malware off the original download site. I had to uninstall chrome. Other browsers are redirecting after running spy bot and ad aware.

From what I've read about this issue, it is experienced by all Android phones that were activated/authenticated after a certain date in January. Mine worked on 1.5 but was broken when I moved to 2.1 Leak. Tested on a Moto Droid with a friend and his GMail app shows the pictures. He activated in December sometime.

This is why it seems that Google is taking a long time to deliver a solution. It isn't affecting everyone yet and therefore Google isn't really convinced there is a problem... Or at least they haven't communicated on the post that they've accepted it and working on a solution.

Agreed. I think it depends on whether you set up the Gmail app before January 13, which is the date they started using SSL/HTTPS by default for all Gmail logins.

Can anybody who uses Xscope or Dolphin confirm that links within apps work correctly if either of these browsers is your default browser (assuming you can make them your default...) Thanks :)

has anyone who installed the newest leak checked out the photo gallery yet? is it still all jittery when you rotate the phone?

i have downloaded the new leak,.....however.

i have not had as many problems with the original as some others have ( no dialer lag, phone problems, etc...) and it seems like those are still present.

probably just going to kick back with what i have and watch for a bit.

I lost my charger a while ago so i can't link my phone to my computer anymore..can i still get this update somehow through my phone??

You can download the ZIP using the phone's browser, and then move it to the root (the highest level) of the SD card using any file manager app (Astro, AndroZIP, etc). If you've got WiFi enabled, this should be just as fast (or slow) as doing it on your computer and then moving it over.

Have you logged into facebook yet? I had this same thing but when I logged into facebook on the widget it was fixed.

I logged in to Facebook once the phone booted back up, and I just logged in via the widget, and it hasn't changed anything. Will the fact that they're Google contacts, instead of phone contacts, affect the picture?

I just updated my 1.5 Eris HW v.2 to the file posted in this thread from the OP. It installed very quickly, rebooted very quickly, and seems to work fine. I've made and received calls, surfed the web, sent texts, etc. I like the Facebook contact integration because unlike many people on FB, I talk to and actually know my friends in RL.

I now see 2 signal bars where I saw none indoors at my home, although I could always place a call with near land line quality, never dropped a call, and never missed a call/text (that I know of..of course).

The phone seems to run a little better, but you can still tell its processor struggles a little bit. Hey, my 3rd Gen iPod gets laggy from time to time, and so did my iPhone 3G. Nothings perfect.

The update went so flawlessly and fast I thought something was wrong at first.

Last but not leasT, a big THANK YOU!! to everyone here who has invested their time and energy to helping others. I do appreciate it. :D

Everyone, please pull your Megaupload links. This is clearly a problem and not all of us will find ourselves adequately protected. Seems a few folks don't even take the threat seriously to begin with.

I am so excited! I saw this post at work and couldn't wait to get home, download, and install it on my phone. I feel like I have been waiting forever for this update. They told me it would be "any day" when I bought the phone. THANK YOU!

Links are working in the Movies app for me, but not in urbanspoon

Picture gallery is fine for me.

OTD I think your file might only be a shortcut because unless Im mistaken the file was only 103kb and the real file is 104mb. Whoever was hosting on MobileMe has the right file.

Updated from "old leaked 2.1 to new leaked 2.1" today. Gmail issue is gone, phone is a tad faster, voice nav still works great.

No, I just downloaded it again to check and it is 103.78mb. Sure you clicked on the right link?

Glad you were able to get it though.
