I sort of saw this coming, but you see the within lies the problem. This thread is titled Official HTC EVo 4g / WiMax thread. so for all intent and purposes any Wimax discussion can also be made here. its just on about the EVO 4G.

maybe we may have to look into spliting this thread up and putting the WiMax posts into the other Wimax thread, but I will need more time to think about it and get the feel of what the other members want.

As for Clash of the Titans, both make very good points. Both are very good in their field and although some of it is above my head its a good learning process. hopefully we can continue to discuss the differences and similarities of the issue on hand without getting at each others throats. We can agree to disagree but at the same time be as one team both striving to continue to make this place as informative and as fun as we can.

This statement is laughable. I guess I'll give you some leeway on your claims to be an industry insider, but saying wimax is wifi would get you laughed out of my company. At the very minimum, the clear distinctions between licensed and unlicensed frequency should be evident to even the layest of laypeople (I made that term up!).

Bill, a friendly comment. You're so far over your head here that doing anything but nodding your head as you try to follow along is fruitless. No need for you to type a response to every seemingly intelligent post in this thread. Half the time the post you're so effusively praising is rife with misinformation. Perhaps keep your comments to such topics as your favorite color for the phone and what games you plan to put on your handset when it arrives.

Alot more interesting than what you had to say in your rant here. Nobody cares what you think, and insulting someone by telling them they should stop praising people and calling them dumb doesn't make you an expert.

Have you been over there? Those are some angry hateful people. Jackson wrote something about them considering switching to the EVO, and they basically told him off, talked about Sprint's crappy service and kicked him out.
 
Hey guys, first time posting on this forum...current Pre user here. Anyways had to get a new phone the other day and happened to be sitting beside another sprint employee and his boyfriend, they were there to get something fixed on the employee's phone. Anyways I guess they work at a corporate office. I think it was a corporate office because another employee asked him where he worked then mentioned he knew someone who worked there but because so many people work there he probably wouldn't know her (I can only assume a store wouldn't have that many employees).

Anyways the important part is him and the boyfriend mentioned the 4g and I specifically heard, "Do you think it's actually coming out on the 17th?" response from BF/employee: "that's just what I hear, you know they never update our page on that". Now all speculative..and he probably meant May or June. Something we have all heard thrown around, but I found it interesting that an employee was saying this.

This is the worse I've seen it, but it won't be tolerated. When someone comes in that hasn't read any of the posts and starts telling people what to do, it's hard to overlook, but I'm biting my tongue. Hopefully, everyone else will too. This has been a good friendly thread and I hate to see that change, so lets move on.

17th of May is Monday. Does Sprint ever do releases on Monday? Or it could've been a different phone coming this Saturday (April 17).

never heard of a monday release. and i doubt sprint is just going to come out of nowhere with a phone in 1 week and just say "here it is"

Wishful thinking I suppose, but April 17th is a Saturday, the day after the big advertising campaign begins.
 
If the screenshot of Evos in a warehouse was real, then its going to be sooner than June.

If they're in a warehouse, that means the device is done and no further testing needs to be completed.

Final product, no need to wait to launch it in June.

Hopefully though, that screenshot wasn't faked.

But I guess we'll all be finding out real soon.
 
The way this thread is going it is getting pretty clear that we have no new information and the masses are getting restless. The amount of new comments on this thread each day are getting pretty ridiculous but I guess it just makes it clear that we all really want this phone.
Maybe I just like the smaller community we used to have but I guess that's pretty impossible for the greatest phone ever. I just hope we cut down on the so called professionals debating things such as WiMax, I personally think it deserves it's own thread so we can let people go at each other without cluttering up this thread.

I'm still on Jackson's side. He keeps saying early June. He's been spot on with his other information, I'll bet his contact is pretty close on the release date too.

Even the 17th of June is a Thursday, now I joined Sprint not too long ago but has anyone else heard of them releasing something on a Thursday? I highly doubt it will be released this month, maybe they were talking about something else maybe 4g coverage in their area or something?
 
weekday releases on anything are rare (except movies i guess) and especialy for a phone like this, you are going to want to camp out for it, so having it on a saturday or sunday would make more sense. but nothing realy matters until we hear something from sprint.

For the record I was not trying to imply it would be this month. He was definitely talking about the Evo...now how he heard that? I have no idea, it could have been from a place like here. Just thought I would pass it along.
 
How about April 17th, the day after the big advertising push begins?? It might not be probable, but it isn't impossible either - not if all that inventory is available.
 
yeah i hope it comes out as soon as possible but really hope it's on a weekend so i can wait in line and be one of the first! this is the first device ever that i'm so excited about i'm actually going to wait outside the store for it.

Thats what I was thinking at first too Bill but it makes no sense to advertise this summer all over the place and unexpectedly drop the bomb the day after a media announcement. Also in the Las Vegas show where they first showed the EVO the rom they had installed on the phone wasn't even working properly yet and was under heavy development. I don't know if they would have enough time to finish development and flash that many phones ship and have them in store for that date. They'd need Santa Clause's sled for a miracle like that.
