Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Hey, we get to see what Chris looks like :) I wish I knew how many females we have in this thread, either lurking or participating. For awhile, Kritzell thought she was the only one.

I too am a very tech savvy female (glad to see I'm not the only one)...and yes I am VERY much addicted to the EVO! ;)

I'd be willing to go show some leg to get this freakin thing...JK JK!! :D

Hahaha, nice TS.

Oh, and that guy with the white t-shirt looks like a mix of Bill and Colonel Sanders :)

I'd probably be the guy with the leather jacket in front, just somewhat younger.

i swear, this thread is more like a support group for alcoholics except we're dependent on Evo info

so anybody know if i order from best buy online, will i get it shipped to me ON the release date? or will it ARRIVE on the release date?

i ask because we don't have a best buy in my area =(

Generally speaking, you should always expect any given new product to SHIP on a release date. But if the vendor/shop/whatever is smart & consumer-friendly enough, then they'll ship sooner.

In our case, we don't even have official release information, so there's little use in speculating.

Is Dan Hesse married? If not, you might have a shot :p

If so........you still might have a shot, lol.

I saw one parked on the side of a street the other day and it brought back memories :D. Love that car.

I also wanted one of these back then:

I like Android 17's idea. Quick, someone do a photoshop with Marty riding a Hover EVO!...LOL. (Unfortunately my photoshop skills aren't good at all).

Touche, I wanted one of those also. Are you watching the game? :D

ok lonnnnngggg time lurker here, since the start of this thread or so, but i just had to say that picture was freaking awesome TS hahaha.

I cant waitttttt till the Evo comes out. Using a Mogul atm, and been eligible for an upgrade since last year lol. Long time WinMo fan, switching to the Android OS for the first time when i get the Evo. Not really digging the whole revamp of WP7 UI.

Thanks SS, SP, and all the great people sharing any info they can to this thread!

BTW I hope the battery life can last at least a day with moderate usage. Knew a few ppl who had diff Android phones, and the battery would die in a few hours, even if not being used. Which brings me to my next question since we had a few posts about task killers. Why cant the developers, or even the OS itself, give a "close" or "exit" option? As on WM you can just exit any application so it doesn't run in the background if not needed.

I understand the use for multitasking and such, but it should still be an option IMO.

ThatNewAndroidGuy....soon to be :P

Just saw this Qik video recorded on the EVO and he says that the hardware is final (which we all knew) but the firmware is not.

http://qik.com/video/6351489

EDIT: video taken down already. This is the user Stewart Patt Stewart Patt (snp6636) on Qik | 0 videos recorded with mobile phones

Looks like he is taking them down as soon as he records them. Has done 3 demos for people just today and one was in front of a large group.
that link didn't work for me, but I like your Premium status and your signature.

Crap to slow ... I must be older than I thought.

Hello and welcome. I'm happy you finally decided to join. As far as the battery part and the task killers, I think we'll have to wait until the EVO is released before we can make any judgments.

I'm sure that TS will like your remark about his picture, but he's been on the warpath about language, so I'm sure he's not going to like your explicative, even if it has stars instead of letters. I'm just saying... A link to the rules are in the first post or you can click here. Maybe you'll see what I'm driving at.

Thanks for joining our family.

Bill

Hey thanks bill, and good job with keeping the thread under control. I edited it out.

But yea lets hope the battery life isn't an issue. I believe it shouldn't with the Snapdragon processor, which reminds me of the Nvidia Tegra processor, which has hours and hours of HD playback. Almost similar in specs. As with a few posts mentioning the new Android phones, Incredible and Evo having the new touchscreen technology from Atmel.

IMHO this event is going to do NOTHING for an Evo fan. There MIGHT be an Evo there that night, but I would be there isn't. This is a film gala and it sounds like there will be no Evo showcased. I could be wrong and I'm sure maybe some Sprint big-wigs there might have one, but it sounds very different than the party in New York.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for taking care of that. One thing the EVO has over the iPhone is a replaceable battery, and I'm not worried about keeping a spare. All those technologies you mention should help. Hopefully, one of these days they may figure out how to improve batteries.

We really should do that, Ill take my laptop and have live video via qik. To bad i dont have my Evo yet, i could do the same thing.... HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE!!!

You can't use Qik on your laptop, it is only a MOBILE live streaming video platform =(

But wish I was still in NYC, I'd love to meet up with all you guys!

p.s. The Evo will be able to do video conferencing via Qik. I know it's been talked about but this is the first, I'm sure of many programs that will be able to do "video calls" utilizing the front-facing camera on the Evo.

You can use Qik on your laptop, it is called Qik-In-Touch and it is an Adobe Air application that works on Mac, Windows and Linux. I was going to post a link but you need to have an account to get to the app.

EDIT: try this: http://qik.com/qntbeta/
Didn't realize it was a beta. Just showed up in my account as an option.

Went to Best Buy today. Mentioned to the phone guy I was sticking with my Centro until this new phone comes out and before I could say it he said "The Evo?" He said yeah you'll be waiting till June. Not that it means anything, he didn't even know they'd be offering pre-orders for it.Also played with an iPad. Fun to play with but I can't really see much use for it other than sitting on my couch and surfing or reading. But that screen doesn't look like it would be pleasant for reading books on after checking out a sample book in the iBook thingamajigger. And it starts to feel heavy pretty quick. A laptop or netbook would be better as you don't have to hold it. So not sure if I'll ever get into the whole tablet thing. If I did it would be something Android of course such as the Notion Ink Adam which would probably be better as an e-reader.

Cool site.

I wonder if this is a real phone? It looks cool. Maybe it is just a cool prototype to make their site look cooler. The speaker grille is reminiscent of the Evo, but it says AT&T on the screen.

It is my understanding the Qik-In-Touch only allows you to view Qik videos and does not allow you to stream live video from a webcam using your laptop.

Yea it does look pretty cool. But I doubt its real, its extremely thin. But hey I could be wrong. It could be AT&T's new IncrediblyThin Android phone, who knows :P
