i dropped by a VZW store today and played with an Incredible. nice device. super fast, great display and browser. everything is great BUT the Contacts and Calendar entry will take some getting used to. definitely not as fast and efficient to enter a Contact or Event as is the old PalmOS. but life is full of compromises and trade offs.

Right it would have to be by now.

Any software tweaks could be made upon setup.

Sprint is gonna stink this up unless they announce availability in may.

I do not care what anyone thinks. It's an apple fact. If we have this in hand before June than it will get momentum if not it's gonna get lost.

this was my contention about 20 pages ago. given a early June 2010 launch no way these things are sitting in a million pieces in a parts bin in some plant in Asia right now. given lead time needed for assembly, testing, packaging, distribution etc. these puppies are ready to go.

Order placed for the ZAGG Shield, front only. Oh how I love 50% discount codes :)

I'll let you all know if I get it and all the details.

Not that this is any kind of indicator but I thought it was worth mentioning. My Mother pre ordered the HTC Incredible and she was keeping her eye out for invisible skin to come out for it. She just ordered it yesterday when they finally came out with the full coverage, I know because I have been keeping my eye out for it. I just think it is odd that The Evo has the "Maximum coverage" version before the phone even has an official release date.

Don't remember the last time I manually entered a contact on my phone so hopefully I don't get too annoyed. Nowadays everything is automatically imported from Exchange/Google/Facebook or someone calls me and I just save the number.

I disagree with this.. I think they need to go toe to toe with the Champ.. They have nothing to lose and lots to gain if they do.. One week lead at best is all that's needed..

If the IPHONE drops early it will only sting more if it does. Everyone will think it is because of the HTC EVO.. The blogs will have a field day with this

Yeah - we know - "Lego my EVO". lol

Awesome thought for the mods. When the EVO gets released - at least for a while - people might actually be too busy playing with their EVO's (that just sounds wrong) to post all these asinine posts. Like this.
You lost me, elaborate please.

That's what I was thinking...or no one recognise any release id #'s as the EVO...which if it was months ago the Supersonic.

Im just curious where these #'s "NM8PC36100" came from?
When I search the FCC (i do it 3 times a day), I do not search for that #, I just punch in the Grantee Code "NM8" and the Grant dates of Nov 09 thru Last day of the current month.

That PC36100 number comes from the back of the phone as shown in the HTC EVo 4G hands-on Gallery pictures.

Anyway to access the Electronic Authorization Search page of the FCC go here.

It brings up this page. Fields in yellow are the ones that are important.

Grantee Code: This is where you enter NM8 which is the code for HTC.
Product Code: I leave this blank, but here is where that PC36100 number goes.
Grant Date Range: can be left blank, but I enter the dates 11/01/2009 to current date or after.
At the bottom, I elect to to Show 100 records at a time (I hate scrolling) :D

And thats it. The results can be sorted by date or any field really.

Edit: Did not noticed that RiverOfIce also made a post about this.

Just stopped by the Incredible forum, 8 PAGES OF NEW POSTS SINCE YESTERDAY.

And you think this thread is bad?

Anywho, I'll have my Incredible tomorrow and will begin a comprehensive write up if any of you want to check it out.

That post is 95% fact with my little personal twist put on some points. The major info reguarding parteners is fact. That is true.

Name one place happier than disney??? If my team wins regianls we are soo going there hahaha yupp thats right a college tennis team heading to Disney =]

Jackson

yeah my Mom did wayyy back. what ur issue with that?

hardware with 2.1 ready-to-go is fine. if the "good news" is that it's supposed to be shipping with 2.2, just change the good news to "software update for some exciting improvements coming soon!"

Screen Protector? why? it's made of glass isn't it? what's the point?

Because glass can scratch. Not likely, but it can. I'll spend $10 to prevent even the possibility rather than be pissed off every time I use the device, I think.

so you'll have a crusty dirty peeling plastic piece of tape marring and covering your otherwise beautiful crisp glass screen?

Hey TS,

how about you talk someone in these forums to make a widget for Windows, that pops up like a chat box, every time there is a new post in one of our subscribed threads? how cool would that be? Have a quick reply button right there, so we could avoid having to navigate all the way back into the forum to reply? Make it a paid service and not have to worry about add revenues or something?

Just thinking outloud...
You may want to suggest that in the Suggest section. I would not know if there is such an animal.

Does this version of vBulletin support RSS feeds?
I'll ask.

You know whats funny, something that has me thinking for a while now. Yes its true that most of their articles were less than desirable, but the is one article that might bring that publication out of the dumpster and its the one announcing that Best Buy will sell the EVO at $199.99. If that comes true, then they can say they were the ones that broke that story. Since no one else did. lately, the last one or two articles have been okay, so I think they are improving.

As for the Apple moving their WWDC conference up to June 7-11. Yeah just like them to do that. With the iPhone loving media, that is what all you will see being published. I have a feeling that the head honchos in Sprint are re-evaluating the release date as we speak. I would not be surprised its release a few days earlier.

Saw this today at work and was shocked, but I guess not too surprised

I've had one on my iPhone for 1.5 years, and only the very bottom is peely, and I could probably attribute that to my lack of skill in applying it. In any case, I'd rather have a mildly-peeled piece of plastic than a scratched/oily screen.

But I may end up not using it--who knows? For $10, I don't really care.

I thought we could use a little comic releif... This is how I look at Palm and the Pre right now... :D

Or better yet everyone else that didn't pay attention to the EVO and wish they had...

Palm tried to reinvent themselves and couldn't keep up with companies with deeper pockets. It happens. I'm glad to see them picked up by HP because I would love a WebOS tablet. On better hardware, WebOS would be excellent. Too bad Palm couldn't afford to build it. I've never seen such a flexible OS grow as much as WebOS has over the past 10 months or so.

How the heck do you see the pictures that have that number? I ran into the same issues that I had with those leaked pictures (w/ accessories and whatnot), where I can't click to open any of the pictures to view bigger images.
If you click on the link I provided it should take you directly to the photo of the EVO with its exposed backside. (no jokes please).
If you click on the photo it zooms in and you can clearly see in the depressed black section of the back the number PC36100.

Now, I truly believe the phone has passed the FCC, but probably has a note saying not to release the documents until a certain date. Or it could have gone through using another Grantee Code other than the one for HTC (NM8).

Still no news from Best Buy. EVO still isn't in our system. The most recent presell SKU is the one for the Hero.

I did get to handle an Incredible today. It's thinner than I expected. Couldn't play with it because anytime you tried to leave the home screen, it wanted to be activated. Very nice though. Can't wait for the EVO.

He seems woefully uninformed. I wouldn't put much stock in this report.

Alas, my mistake. Just a typo. Meant to say 8 GB microSD card, not 8 GB + a microSD card. I corrected it on the site.

Anything else 'woefully uninformed'? The info is mostly just a summary gathered from reputable sources - namely Sprint, Engadget, and PC World.

I really disagree with this old argument. You can't forget that these things are staggered all through the year and it's not really fair to judge a company by its offerings when we are weeks away from a refresh.

Last summer, the Pre was the only phone with the same CPU and similar specs to the iPhone. Then the Hero came out on Sprint first. Then Sprint got the Moment which was the fastest Android phone. Then Verizon got Droid. Then T-Mo got the Nexus One. Then last week Verizon got the Incredible. Then in June we will get the Evo. I'm not event counting the other phones like HD2, Pixi, Touch Pro 2, etc. that came out staggered on other carriers as well as Sprint.

My point is that over the course of the year there are tons of releases on pretty much all the carriers. Being on top with the fastest this or the newest that one month doesn't mean that you will still be on top in 2-3 months. Likewise, just because a carrier has gone a quarter or a half without a groundbreaking release doesn't mean they have been severely lacking in good handsets. Hero is a good phone. Moment is a good phone. Pre is a good phone. No they are not the top of the pack anymore but to say that Sprint has been severely lacking misses that fact that 6 months ago they had some of the best phones on the market. Just because you didn't choose them doesn't mean others also did not.

I've been on Sprint for years and never lacked for a decent smart phone ever since I got my first Treo.

I have to disagree, sprint hasn't put out a good phone since the Hero and that phone was a good mid range phone, the moment is junk and the pre was nothing but promises that weren't kept. The pre had tons of hardware and software problems for months after it's release it was never "top of the pack" and the reason some thought sprint had such a good line up 7 months ago is because it was so crappy before that, it was a nice change to see a decent phone like the hero come but again other networks had just as good or better phones out around that time as well.

Sprint hasn't released a decent phone since October and here we are going into May, at least they have announced the updated blackberry so I guess that could be called decent for May 23 or something like that and then the Evo in the summer (june, july, aug, sept) and hopefully it's the early june time frame people keep suggesting but I have yet to see sprint give a time frame and come out earlier than projected and summer doesn't start until the end of June.

I think the lack of quality phones has been one of sprints biggest problems, almost all of their phones are "me too" phones, phones you can get cheaper on other carriers, the only exclusives sprint seems to have are either over priced (the original touch pro) or garbage like the instinct line and the moment which feels like a toy, everything else is also on other networks (Eris is the hero with a different case) and can usually be had for cheaper.

It's great that sprint is bringing out the Evo and the new blackberry but they definetly need more, they need a version of the incredible not the N1, the N1 has too many issues and is kind of a damaged property in a lot of people eyes, the incredible has better features and a better screen, with the Evo being so large some may want a smaller phone but not as small as the hero or upcoming legend and a variant of the incredible could give them that. I known for myself I was wanting a screen of 3.5-3.7 inches initially and then the Evo was announced and I love that the screen is large but after holding an HD2 at the t-mobile store I am kind of concerned about keeping the Evo in my pocket.

agreed. i was surprised how thin it was. i could tolerate a slightly thicker device if you gave me more battery. there was plenty of margin IMO.

another thing that surprised me was how NOT obnoxious the Incredible's "Racecar" back was. it wasn't obnoxious at all in person vs. in the pics.
