I understand, and I agree. When I first heard about the $10 I was extremely irritated, no matter what excuse they give for charging it. Of course it pisses me off that Sprint wants to suck some more money out of me every month. I honestly don't know what the $10 is for, but people are saying that it doesn't have to do with 4g per se. What I DO know is that I really want an EVO. Just like last year when I really wanted a Pre and I had to change my plan. This is along the same lines. If you want an EVO, you will pay the $10/month bottom line.

I just choose to be positive and say I REALLY want an EVO, so I'll sacrifice a few french fries every month to get one. You can either be mad, and get nowhere, or you can take a deep breath, bend over, and take it....like I am! :p
 
I have seen mention of an application named PDANET that supposedly works on all Android phones to tether one computer to the phone through Bluetooth or a cable. Here's a description from androlib.com:

Anyone got the scoop on whether the EVO will work with this, or will Sprint block it? I don't really need to connect 8 devices at once, so this would definitely work for me.

We won't know for certain until the Evo is released or the Evo ROM is leaked.

While I agree with you.. I'm stating what some people might be thinking that is all..

I have no problem affording the extra 10 dollars toward my plan.

I'm just looking at the extra $10 from both side of the fence. Ultimately it will come down to the customer to choose to pay it or not. But you guy's should not really attack someone because they do not want to or do not have the funds to spend an extra $10.

Once the EVO rom is released, we will have tons of developers that will help with tethering. Most android devices with custom roms have custom tethering applications ( outside of the Android Market, which has a few)
 
Hey just some info I contacted Best Buy today and was going to pre order the phone and I asked if they would be in on the 4th and they said we are not sure the best buys stores are only getting a limited of phones, but you would have your phone no later than July 4th, if you pre order. They went on to tell me that they have to set up appointments for you to come in and get the phone and activate it. They said if you are not one of the first people to pre order it could take a while to set up your appointment. Then i said thanks and hung up.

It looks like your best bet is Radio Shack or Sprint unless you are one of the first ppl to pre order the Evo.

It also 50 dollar down payment at best buy as well.

Yeah, I definitely agree to that, but you would think that considering the $10 fee which provides TRULY UNLIMITED data, they would have no reason to block it. Then again, they might see it as losing money because fewer people would pop for the $30 hotspot option...:confused:

Hey, gang. Just joined up to ask this but I've been hanging around forever. Hope this isn't too far off topic.

Really want this phone, but I've never been an early adopter of anything. Now that it's time to make a decision I just wanted to know if anybody else has any concerns about being on board early with the Evo. I'm telling myself that the HD2 reviews I've read say it's a great phone from a hardware perspective and is lacking in the OS department. Which I think makes this a safer bet.

So, am I foolish to be nervous at this point?

Enjoyed all the information I've picked up from you guys. Thanks in advance.

I beleive the $10 charge is for both the 4G when your in that area and it covers your overage seeing that the 5gb cap will be removed if you use an EVO... My question is if I get an EVO and my wife doesn't and we're on a share plan... do we each have to pay the extra $10 or will that cover both of us... what if I have more than two lines... does the $10 only cover my EVO, does it only cover my two primary lines and not the secondary 3rd and 4th lines or are they all covered further making the $10 pill easier to swallow for some.

I personally am ok with it. Like hopalee said... just means a few less coffee trips, or what ever, a month.

Will ordering from Sprints website still require the hand mail in rebate, or do you get it as an online discount?

It sucks for me ordering thing like this online. I have no patience and waiting for the mail is almost excruciating when I want a device this bad.

but If ordering through sprints online store eliminates the need for me to do the mail in rebate, I guess I'll do that.

You have a shitty Best Buy then if thats what they told you. I didn't get that information from my local store. Good luck with that, but for me I'll still be purchasing mine at bestbuy.

1) I liken it to driving on a toll road (do they still have those anywhere?) where you can choose to pay the toll and have a shorter, quicker trip or you can take the long, back-road path. The tolls are typically used to defray the cost of building the toll roads. Given the choice I usually pay the toll.
2) I'm telling myself that the $10 may go into a Sprint fund to increase and expand the 4G network, which will benefit everyone.

That's how I see it....going back to my happy place!! lol

They still have it in Houston, I take it every day to work. ($6 bucks a day)

Yup... tolls here all over in Cali... called fastrack... I don't take that either :D LOL over $10.00 EACH WAY if you take it here during rush hour.. LOL

that becomes an expensive trip LOL

I pay ~$13/day in tolls here in Northern Virgina. I could avoid about $10 of that if I got up earlier or didn't mind taking 45 minutes more to get home.
