just came back from my bestbuy in NY and the lady had them in the locker. When I asked if they had them she was hesitant in a cute way and then said YES we have them, so I asked if she would show me it and she did...even took it out of the plastic and let me hold it etc... I popped the battery cover out and even pulled out the SD card which is an 8gb class 2 card. It's a pain in the ass to get out of the slot I will tell you that!! She wasn't supposed to show me the phone or even do what she did but she was like "I'm the only one here so its cool" LOL... I wasn't able to put the battery in but that's ok!! The phones AWESOME, there's no other way to put it!!! Everyone and there deaf aunt Rita is going to LOVE this phone!!!

Actually its this...

What they don't tell you is that its only for the main phone on the account. So if you have two or more phones on your account on the primary one gets the one year upgrade, not the others. Still better than nothing.

While the BB rep called to schedule my appointment today, he was discussing accessories, etc...he said " By the way, the battery life on this phone really sucks, something like 5 hours, so you'll need a car charger".

Now I don't know if this was a weakass attempt at a sales pitch, or was legit. Any of you owners care to comment?
 
Alright guys I'm running out of things to do with the family until this thing comes out.
Told the missues that I'm locking myself in my room for four hours until the battery dies when it comes out. So tempted to go to RS and get it but then I am out the 100 on the other two phones that I preordered. Guess 9 will have to do.

as with anything ... it will depend on your own usage.. but what I have read.. he is blowing smoke out his ass and is a lame attempt at trying to sell you something...
 
I don't think that is the case. Even if he wasn't trying to sell you any car charger, I would buy one anyway. Whether its there or someplace else. This phone is gonna make me want to push it to the limit (battery wise) and I will need to keep it charged up as much as possible. Shoot I do that now with the Hero, imagine the EVO which is more battery hungry.

don't get me wrong - I agree :) I have a car stereo with USB port in it :D I will be riding around with it hooked into that all the time :D

Sales people sell and aren't the best place for accurate technical or how-to advice. I'll keep a recharger handy until I figure out how my normal use and battery drain sync up. I don't mind daily charging given that I'm going to use the phone a lot. It's good to know that shutting it down to just phone-only mode is possible for those times when I'll be out of data coverage (darn UP in MI!).

Dang...that would be AWESOME! I have heard a few select people mention they have the USB port in their car stereo. Is it an after-market deck or something fancy direct from dealer? Just curious cuz aftermarket I can look into at some point :D

LOL Kenwood stereo :) I love it... my ipod touch just plugs right into it and of course charges and plays.. it also has an auxiliary in the front so I will have it hooked to the USB charging and playing through the aux :D

My factory installed radio came with a usb port, so I just bought some micro usb cords from ebay and I'm all set.

I'm assuming any micro usb (same that I use for my HTC mogul) will do?
 
We just got the "accessory" and "review" forums going - lots of stuff will be getting moved in the next day in anticipation of the launch. Hope nobody minds, and please start making it a habit to check these subforums for discussion and to see if your topic has already been started!

The ones with pre orders will open at 6am, the one inside of Mall will open when the malls open. Here in MI some RS in the mall may be open slightly earlier than their 1000 normal time

Hey new Fellow Missourian...there are plenty of cheap (<$10) devices that plug into a cigarette lighter and provide a "USB port" as output. Naturally, it is only used for its power, mainly for phones that use USB charging which is quite common these days. I'll go find one now and then edit this post with a link (I have had a couple myself for a while).

ok, I have been with sprint for many yrs but I have never gone to BB to get a phone I have always gone to a Sprint Store. Is there any problem with doing the upgrade credits from my Pre at a BB? I don't think there should be but I don't want to waste time on friday going there and they tell me I cannot get the same price.
