wow! idk how i missed this picture! but im loving the all black stealth look! what do you guys think, Black or the white we've seen??

if the rumored design specs hold true this phone will be so sleek that it will be beautiful white or black

Does supersonic have multi touch? if so would apple suing HTC prevend it from releasing the phone?

There are no official specs yet, but the phone is built by HTC which means it will have Sense UI. So yes, it will have multi-touch. As far as the lawsuit is concerned, people are saying that could go on for years, but some kind of settlement will probably be made in the end. Either that, or the case will be thrown out altogether.

From what we're seeing, its business as usual, so I have to believe Apple has no power to stop the Supersonic from being released.

so the multi touch is from HTC, not from google OS? since Nexus one from google does not have multi touch. no wonder apple went after HTC, not google

I am debating between Nexus one vs Supersonic. I really don't need 4G and don't want to pay too much for it. I am ok with 3G. but I like the 4.3" and multi touch.

which phone is better?

Well, the Nexus One always had multi-touch built into their Android 2.1 operating system, but it was turned off. HTC and their Sense UI, which works over the top of Android, has always been multi-touch. Even on earlier versions of Android, like the HTC Hero that I have.

Edit: With Google's first OTA update to fix 3G problems, multi-touch was turned on. After that was when Apple started the lawsuit against HTC.

We won't know for sure until the Supersonic is released which will be better, but chances are, no matter what forum you go into around here, most will probably favor the Supersonic.

Edit: Both the Nexus One and the Supersonic are going to be released on the Sprint network sometime this spring or summer.

Right now, we're waiting for the CTIA Wireless Association conference which is going to be held in Las Vegas next week. Dan Hesse of Sprint is one of the keynote speakers and we're expecting him to talk about the Supersonic at that conference.

We don't have any 4G coverage here in Florida yet, but I still want the Supersonic for the large screen and fast Snapdragon processor.

would sprint sell you one if they don't have 4G there? if they sell, will it be more expensive than Nexus one, or more expensive plan? so paying for 4G but not using it.

Actually, the Supersonic will work on 3G and 2G as well. This is necessary, because 4G is not available in a lot of places yet.

As far as the price, Sprint's plans are cheaper than the carriers. We don't know about cost yet, but I think Sprint would be foolish to charge a lot for the phone. They have a chance of getting ahead of the rest of the carriers with the 4G, but in my opinion, a real expensive WiMAX phone would hurt their chances.

Edit: I'd have to look for it, but I think Sprint already announced that their 4G plans were not going to go up in price. As far as the phone goes, both are made by HTC and have similar specs, so I don't see any difference there either.

Edit 3/18/2010: I found the answer for what Sprint will be charging for WiMAX service:

1-15-2010 - Sprint drops price of mobile WiMAX by another $10. Sprint Nextel reduced the monthly price of its CDMA/mobile WiMAX service by another $10, down to $59.99, a Sprint spokeswoman confirmed. The price cut is the second $10 cut in less than five months; Sprint made a similar change to its unlimited 3G/4G mobile broadband package in August.

Edit:
A response by HTC to Apple's lawsuit was just posted on Engadget.

I would highly doubt it. They don't really have a valid lawsuit. Now, say the coding was copy-pasta, then yes they would have an argument. As of right now though, I don't think they're getting anything out if this. The phone SHOULD release on time, as far as my limited knowledge goes.

The supersonic will more than likely come with senseui, vs. the Nexus which has plain 2.1
Granted, they're both nice, but I think the senseui on the supersonic will be just ever so much better, whatnot with the eye candy and benefits like integration. Either way, I'm going to try my hardest to get out of this phone if the Nexus and supersonic come out soon.

Just when I thought Sprint was out... They pull me back in...

What great news. If its N1 in April and SS in June, I'll have to think long and hard about this. Personally, I like the idea of the bigger screen. But... I dont know... We'll have to wait until next week for (hopefully) dates.

Just found out I qualify for AT&T's prorated ETF, so I'm leaving them as soon as the Supersonic is released!

I promise I'll give you guys some more information nuggets by the weekend, ok?

Thanks, Ouhei. Any nuggets would be appreciated. :)

I like this Supersonic pic better.. with that little Red Devil so kewl and i like Black one as well

Nobody knows for sure what the final product will like, but everything I see that HTC puts out looks pretty snazzy. Hopefully, next week we'll have pictures, some specs and a release date.

Since the Supersonic is going to be official soon, it seems like we should have an "Official HTC Supersonic Thread". I would like to see the first post in that thread continually updated with specs, pictures and the latest pertinent information. Right now, we're basically writing to three different threads and it's confusing as to where you should post.

Does anyone want to take responsibility to manage such a thread? I will volunteer, but I don't want to jump in there and create a new thread if someone else wants to do it.

Hi Bill,

If you are willing to volunteer, I can't think of anyone else who is more qualified than you. You have been championing the Supersonic and kept it "alive" (for me, at least). I was all but certain that I was going to switch to Verizon and get the Incredible, but if the Supersonic is coming out soon (hopefully before May) I will be staying with Sprint.
A big thanks from me for all you done. I have a feeling that a lot of us will be joining the Supersonic train real soon!

Jeff
