my guess is incentives will be same for new or existing (assuming you're up for the upgrade.)
 
I just edited my post 4587 to include quotes from Android and Me and from the Neowin article. The main thing about the fist one is their guess is that Froyo will come out on May 19th (also Flash 10.1 beta) and second article deals with how Google plans to deal with fragmentation across different Android versions.
 
I'd imagine the Nexus One would first receive the upgrade, with the EVO following very closely behind.

Btw, anyone read about JIT integration in Froyo as that article mentioned? I'm not a developer, so I can't make full sense of it, but it sounds like it could lead to a big improvement on future operating systems and apps as well.

Any of our more knowledgeable members know anything more/can explain more about it?

no, this evo had 2.1 and the only reason the fm tuner didn't work is because it needs headphones to act as the antenna. watch the video. it comes up in the first 40 second. evo will ship with 2.1

Me too but I'm also waiting to see where the Galaxy S lands. :(
 
The Incrdible definitely has a FM radio and it works. Phil in Androidcentrals walk through said he has used it and it works just like a regular radio, just needs headphones/speakers plugged in.

The OS has nothing to do with WiMax, the signal is read from the radio and passed down, why would the OS not be compatible? The only thing that has to be compatible is the radio transceiver.

Are you saying that the Droid Incredible does NOT support support FM Radio?

Droid Incredible with Android 2.1 does support FM Radio (requires headphone be plugged in...)

Video still showing time stamp when FM Radio app is shown...

HTC devices lack an internal antenna the reason the fm tuner won't work without headphones is because the software makes a check before launching that makes sure you have headphones in so it can be used as an external antenna. Theoretically any Android device can have a fm tuner app some may lack signal if no hardware antenna was built into the phone but some were wired to use the headphones as an antenna.

As far as this is concerned I highly doubt it. Since when is the OS in control of any type of signal? Again the signal is transferred from the radio to the phone but the OS has nothing to do with what type of signal it is that's done by the radio built into the device.
