It is not actually Sprint you are buying it from. It is a place called Asurion they handle almost all of the major carriers insurance, some use on called The Signal. I know this because I used to work in the cell industry. And yes it is a rip, unless the phone was released in the last 3 months or it is a super high end phone you will get a refurbished unit after you pay the deductible. Sometimes but not usually with real high end phones you will get a new unit. That is why I said earlier to insure your phone through your car or home insurance. :)

That may be true. But if you have to make a claim on it through your auto insurance, you are more than likely a 2-4 weeks out before you get an insurance check. Meaning either you have no phone for 2-4 weeks or you have to put 400-600 dollars out of your own pocket until you get that check. And some people don't have an extra 400-600 dollars sitting around to do that. I have insurance on my phones and always have. its worth 7 bucks to me knowing that I lose or break my phone, I go to Sprint with a C-note and I get a new phone. And with cell phones these days and how big the screens are getting, they are not as durable as those penny phones 8 years ago.

I won't disagree if you look at the big picture its probably cheaper to just tuck the 7 bucks a month away in a shoe box and you might save money. But its just easier for it this way (for me anyways).

Actually I got my check in 2 days :) It cost me $40 for 1 year

Yes they will. But your total insurance preminums will go up with each claim.

You do not understand that.

If you claim 600 dollars device on your home owners insurance. It will increase your risk factor.

This will cause your homeowners insurance to go up.

With sprint insurance, it is not consider property insurance. There for is not reported.

But if you do insure it through you property insurance, do not use it. Because if you do. It will cost you alot more then a new phone. Long run.

That is the reason they offer the insurance in the first place.

You also understand that if you claim it against your home insurance, your car, boat, and personal insurance will go up too.

It will not only raise your home insurance but all prorperty insurance.

Second thing. Most home insurance has a 250-1000 dollar deductible.

Covering anything less then 1000 dollars as an add on is pointless.

If you only use it once every 3 years then it might be worth it. But in 3 years you have a new phone.

Not trying to convince you of anything. I rent and my renter's insurance doesn't cover it. Even if it did, would they have a replacement to me the following day when I break my phone? I live in the city so I pretty much walk, bike, cab, bus, or ride my scooter everywhere and my scooter is only insured against theft. Nothing that will cover my phone.

I'm not trying to say I'm smarter than anyone. Just saying that paying $7 a month for fast replacement of any smart phone has already paid off for me. Do what you want. I'm sure I could go over your budget and find plenty of things I find wasteful but it's none of my business because it ain't my money. :D

Man I need to switch to your company. I have Geico, and they take there time. My truck got broke into a few years back and they drug there feet to get me a check. I think it was like 2.5 weeks before I got that check.

To be honest I went with State Farm and I did not have any other insurance with them just the phone. There is a risk of raising your premiums but if you use Asurion through the carrier you only can use 2 claims within a 12 month period then they drop you. the phone I claimed was the first and only phone I ever damaged in over 13 years of having a cell phone so to me it was a good deal, $40 for 1 years coverage and $0 deductible.

hopefully this is the year... of SPRINT. I wonder what the average sprint customer pays though compared to verzion now though.

WOW! The longest I ever waited for an insurance claim check was 5 days! You know you can go to the office and pick it up if there is one close?

Yeah, if Geico spent as much improving their service as they did on ads they would be a lot better I'm suspicious of any company that spends that much on advertising.

True. But they have been a great company for me. I wish I would of received my check faster, but how much I save every month with geico, its worth it for me. I am finically ok, so the wait was not that big of a deal.
 
when I win an evo I will take pictures just for you guys then and then in a long video with porn music i will uncover it... wait screw that I will play with it

How do people know if/when Sprint tele sales has a phone "available" to sell? I'd hate to call them everyday for a month and a half.
 
i choose to self-insure small risk losses and insure the catastrophic losses. i save/invest the premiums that would have been paid and let them compound and grow over time. but i understand that not everyone is at the same level of financial sophistication and ability.
