Ha... you're right Slug, I think I wanted to use the word "site." My mistake.

While I agree to a certain extent with what you're saying, I'm insulted that you'd say "this has officially become the most worthless thread on the Internet". This sounds a little like propaganda and makes me think you work for Apple. This has officially become the most worthless thread on the internet. Can anyone recommend another EVO forum where they don't talk about Mickey, Tyson, or post worthless youtube videos?
As much as I would love to have a "lean-and-mean" thread, that has been lost now. When I stated this thread, I wanted it to be informational more than social, but with so many new people coming in everyday, it's difficult to control that. I would agree that it's difficult to wade through all the chitchat just to find a few bits of information. That's why I continually update the first post in this thread with links to the latest information. That way, you don't have to wade through the posts to find the information you're looking for. If it's newsworthy, I'll post it there.Exactly, so can you please keep it on-topic and move all the non-related traffic to The Lounge? Any general questions/answers about the EVO would also be better posted in their own specific thread.
Thanks for your co-operation. Keeping this thread 'lean-and-mean' helps both Android Forums and any other site linking back to it.
I know when I was browsing engadget while the iPad was being released, I had to use Engadget '/exclude/Apple' just so I could FIND the interesting stories without being overwhelmed by crap I didn't care about... It'll probably be the same when WWDC hits![]()
As posted earlier, the sprint Q1 earnings report was posted today. In the last few posts there is discussion regarding the Apple event starting June 7th. Here's what's interesting....
During the Sprint Conference Call, neither the Evo or 4G was mentioned at all. One would think they would highlight this, but apparently they are keeping everything tightlipped.
Then, Hesse was asked about Apple and the new iPhone and he commented how 'great' apple is. (I wasn't able to listen in). Anyway, some investors are taking that as a hint that Sprint might be getting the next iPhone, which would mean releasing the Evo near the iPhone wouldn't matter, because they'd be selling both.
Here are some investors talking about the call:
Google Finance: Sprint Nextel Corporation
Still, for me, the sooner the Evo comes out the better.
why are you guys bothering with the invisishield for this phone its gonna have the same scratch resistant screen as the hd2...
Jackson mentioned there are a few insiders here and more than likely, there are others lurking. I just suggested that Lucan could be an Apple insider (sorry Lucan, I don't mean to single you out. I'm only using you as an example) and if he is, he could be looking for information to derail the EVO. Because of that, I can't blame Sprint for holding back. I think they have to, to keep the mystery and the buzz going.
I highly doubt that Apple is paying someone to invade a thread about a phone in an attempt to draw information about it which Apple can then use against it. With a company as influential and large as Apple, if they wanted to know details, they could almost certainly find out through more reliable avenues than internet forums.
This.
Pretty silly to think Apple A) Really cares about the Evo and B) Has people scouring the internet for information. The Evo and the iPhone are already set up from a hardware standpoint - any feedback that Apple gets from the Evo would be for the next iPhone in 2011, not the one that's coming in June.

It seems to me that all of the fuss (about us being off topic) is coming from brand new posters. I would be concerned if people that have been posting here from the start were feeling like the thread was going nowhere or that it was the worst on the net or too far off topic. We are just standing by and pushing f5 waiting on something new. If someone makes a joke and a few people chime in, I don't see what is so wrong with that. Agreed we are not in a social forum and we need to be informative to be of value but the information can have an entertainment value as well. Am I wrong?![]()

Good stuff - I'm very interested in picking up a spare battery for the road. I tried looking up the Incredible's battery pricing just to get a ballpark figure, but that's not out yet... hopefully the EVO battery isn't way too costly.
Having said all that, like I said before with Jackson agreeing, Sprint could release the phone in late May if they want to. Change of strategy will need to take place. NYC and LA event WILL have to be mostly about the EVO 4G. Invite the major media blogs to these events, as well the local news. Google I/O is another event you could let this device shine. I'm going to all three events, so I'll get to see what's happening with my own eyes. TV Marketing will need to happen right now, not sometime in June. May needs to be the month of the EVO.

Sure, scratch resistant. Why don't you put an EVO or HD2 in your pocket with keys and see what happens? I'm wrapping my baby up!
No offense but that's just a lack of common sense if you put your phone in the same pocket as your keys.
Phones get placed in all sorts of places where the screen would easily be scratched no matter what surface it is. I always put Invisibleshields on my devices and have never had a scratch on them. It's just an examplePhones get placed in all sorts of places where the screen would easily be scratched no matter what surface it is. HTC tell us the Incredible has a tempered glass panel with a fingerprint-resilient oleophobic coating; fingerprints may slide off, however, but scratches are another matter, and in less than a day’s use (with the Incredible dropped into the same pockets as we keep our Nexus One in) the screen had already gathered a couple of scars. Usually we’d say screen protectors are a matter of personal preference, but with the Droid Incredible we almost think Verizon should have included one in the box as standard.
