Actually, did eieio (or someone else) post the other day that Boston or DC (I cannot exactly remember) has quietly gone live?

EDIT: Just double-checked... eieio did state, over in the WiMAX coverage thread, that DC has been lit up.

I'm getting ready for my trip so I go Radio Shack to pick up some voltage converters and it dawn on me, that they should have the HD2 so I go check it out. OMFG Its freaking awesome. Big screen, feels really good in my hands, skinny, a bit wide but just perfect considering the screen.
I freaking love it. If this is what an EVO feels like, I couldn't ask for anything more. WOW.

About friggin time you go play with the HD2, lol. tht was one of the first things I did and have been drooling ever since.

I have decided I will only read forums every couple days. That way when I do read, our wonderful mods have already cleaned house and I don't have to read the deleted stuff. Thanks Trident and TS :)

I just know that I am going insane with all this waiting we have been doing -- here is my timeline:

Around October: rumors of the HD2 was coming out unknown who the carrier will be

January -- Hoping and Praying and WAITING for Sprint will announce some cool phone at the CES- NOTHING - so we wait

Mid-January - Rumors of the Supersonic start to hit the air and people get all excited but there is no proof -- Again we wait

February rolls around -- People just KNOW that sprint is going to say something about the Supersonic phone @ the MWC-- again nothing again we wait

March -- Finally after all this time we get to quench our thirst of waiting with the reveal of the EVO - but no price point and no release date .... GUESS WHAT WE GET TO DO .... wait.

April -- Hopefully on the 16th some big news will be dropped about the EVO - I freakin circled that date on my calender -- NOTHING - We continue to wait

Now we are in May and we are waiting for May 12th to come - I swear I will lose my mind if no information is brought to the table!!!

I'm bringing this up, because I suspect that the Incredible and our EVO share the same camera sensors. However, even if they do not, the sample photos in this article show the limitations of increased megapixel counts on small sensors.

I saw that too and it worries me a bit, the pictures looked quite a bit better from the N1 than the incredible, not only that but the dual flash was weaker than the single flash on the N1. I hope the Evo has a better camera set up, HTC isn't known for it's high quality cameras anyway, I remember when the hero came out everyone hated the camera because photos were always blurry and then they did some kind of update and it improved it a bit. I would think if you are going to go through the trouble of putting an 8mp camera on a phone you'd go all out and not do it the cheap or lazy way.

Apologies if this video had already been posted early on, but it's HTC's CEO talking after Dan Hesse about how HTC/Google/Sprint had been working since May 2008 on delivering the worlds first 4G Android handset. 2 years? This phone better live up to the expectations if it's been conceptualized since WAY back then:

Everything seems to be running together for me lately, but (I think) I read the camera was one of the things being worked on for the EVO 4G. If I recall correctly, one of the things there were working on was a delayed strobe flash. Not sure I've said it just right, but that's the idea.

I expect the EVO camera to be better than the Incredible camera. Also, look at Autosuggestion's Incredible thread. He posted quite a few pictures and I thought they looked pretty darn good considering they came from a phone camera.

Yep, that's true Bill. However, one can't escape the fact that these small sensors on our phones are inherently limited. If the sensor is clipping blacks or is blowing out the highlights because two many pixels have been crammed into too small a sensor size, no amount of photoshop will be able to recover what is already lost. What photoshop will help with is the blueish tint on the Incredible photos. It should be relatively easy to adjust the white balance, and I'm crossing my fingers that this adjustment can even be done on the phone. If I remember correctly from one of the CTIA videos, the EVO has manual white balance adjustments built in.

My point is, the higher the megapixel count doesn't necessarily mean the better the photos. In fact, in many aspects, the opposite is true: dynamic range decreases and low-light noise increase. What you might be gaining is detail from the extra megapixels--but even then, that is tempered by how small the lenses are and also by diffraction limits.

That's just the time Sprint first approached HTC about a 4G phone. Back in '08 they more than likely had no blueprint much less concept of what the phone would look like or anything. Then once they start to think about features there's a big wait to see what the latest and greatest hardware out at the moment is, and finally they'd start to build a prototype after everything is on paper(maybe close to a year after the whole process started).

Very interesting. The most telling things I've read about Intel's Moorestown processor is that they've adapted it to run on Android mobile devices and their prediction is that it'll allow mobiles to have 3 X's the battery life of current cell phones. That's crazy, but I'd love that!

Yeah I saw this on Engadget this morning, if Intel gets into the mobile game we'll see a 2Ghz processor on the market in under a year no doubt.

It's a shame we can't all get along. I happen to like what ROI has to say. She doesn't want people in this forum to have misconceptions, so she's stern at times trying to fight false rumors. As far as her knowledge of WiMAX, there is no one that matches her. Even eieio has admitted that she has much more technical knowledge than he does.

A week or two ago, I took the liberty of combining several of her posts, because it's the best information I have run across comparing WiMAX and LTE. It would be a shame if we lost her expertise in this forum.

Knowledge is great, but the debate has to be kept civil. Knowledge without kindness is worthless.
