WOW...haven't checked the thread in a few days and my head is spinning from all this info.

hey guys. just got home from my AP english exam. (jeez that was tough). clear announced 4G for tampa this summer! made my day

at this point im happy with a 3 lol. i just want to get my college credit and never have to endure that class again lol

Thats exactly what I did, scarped by with a 4 on the first, 3 on the second, and was damn glad to get it... But anyways, back to the Evo...

Are we under the assumption now then, that 2.2 is a revision to Eclair and 2.5 will really be FroYo?

If I recall, too bad she's vacationing in Banlandia for the week, RiverOfIce mentioned that 2.1 was a revision of 2.0 and they were both known as Eclair.

I figured if I got the phone later, it would not be part of the original stock that was shipped in early June. Either way, all OS updates are free, correct?
Yes. I have webos on my pre..and the updates are free and over the air. I am getting really really excited :)to get my evo.

jackson had said the evo would be running a modified 2.1. also there was mention a couple days ago that froyo was actually 2.5 which threw me off because i suspected like most, that froyo would be 2.2.

if you put what jackson and bsod say together it makes sense that froyo = 2.5 and that evo will run a modified version of 2.1 (aka 2.2).

i really dont know about all this pop tie in talk though.

No one knows. As I was told. Google only focuses on the numbers. Not the name. The name is added when it is done.

2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 can all be elcare.

The current road map as I was told.

2.0, 2.1, maybe 2.2 are the same thing.

2.2 maybe 2.3 will be froyo

2.4 will be something gingersnap/bread or possibly graham cracker.

What I was told is that google is SLOWING down the releases. Majorly.

So 2.2 will either be elcare or froyo, but has not really been named yet. IT should be released this month.

Google does not look beyond current builds.

But what I hear is in 6-12 MONTHS 2.3 froyo or ginger/graham will release.

After that it will be on a 6-12 month cycle and increase 2.4, 2.5, 2.6

Could be up to 18 month builds, really doubt that.

After 2.2, whatever name that is. Google is done. They will then/have decide what the production schedule will be.

The other thing I am hearing, and this is just speculation. That after 2.2, you will get the ota upgrade from google, not the carrier.

this whole thing on codename has always got me confused. the more 2.x i see and the more the codenames, will confuse the whole world.

whatever the hell they run, i just want full flash and that's enough to shove the apple iphone up someone's ass

is the phone featured in the movie or something? i missed that part.

It will be a little weird and anachronistic when Jake the Prince of Persia, whips out the HTC EVO in ancient Persia to scare his enemies with 720p quality video recordings, but I'll definitely be rooting when he does.

Okay, so a theoretical question for those of you who knows how Sprint’s policies work. I would be a new customer to Sprint. Let’s say that NYC does get 4G turned on in the next week or so and the EVO’s release date is announced to be no later than June 13. Would it be possible for me to get an Overdrive to test out 3G and 4g signals at my work and home, and then, before the 30 day guarantee is over, if I’m getting good signals, turn my Overdrive in for a refund, switch my account over to an everything data account and get an EVO at BB? (I want to get it at BB so I could get the instant rebate.)

Sprint/Evo fans,

Okay long time lurker and long time poster (April counts) I just wanted to say what a great time to be alive in this period of technology.
I have been around since 386x Intel micro processor! (16 MHz) I have grown to help pioneer PIII intel processor (800Mhz) and create Intel P4 processor (2.4Ghz). I am now the grandfather to present desktop processors today (iCore 7).

I have never been more excited for a piece of technology as the HTC EVO. WiMax will bridge technology gaps like never before. I know along with the amazing hardware combination and true mobile broadband experience it will be something like never before.

I was a early pioneer of Wimax, and tested it in 1998 inside the walls of Intel.
I am extremely thankful to see the enthusiasm on this thread. I can rest knowing that every decision was sound not only for the company but the future of technology. I am fortunate to know a friend with his own technological law (Moor's Law)
