Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

You can on the Eris. I believe that the phone has to be listed as "with google" for you to be able to turn off Sense. Although, I may be thinking of something else.

As far as I know, you cannot turn off Sense since its not just a theme over the stock UI, it is deeply embedded within the OS itself. I don't know about the Evo, but on the Incredible, it is missing the stock android UI core files.

The thing about it as far as I have learned from experience all you would have to do is download a "home screen" from the android market and set it as your default.

That's interesting to know. I was wondering about this because SenseUI is an adaptation of what TouchFlo3D was before. Anytime my TF3D was acting up on my Touch Pro, I've just turned it off and used the OEM Windows Mobile Interface, which is boring and I don't like, but definitely more stable than TF3D (which I can't stand anymore).

actually no there not... this past quarter was one of there best in years and if they get this phone out when we think it will be out this will be the best in years
Like I said before, despite their losses, I hope the Evo and 4G make them stronger. I love my Incredible but sure would like an Evo...."For the first quarter, Sprint reported a net loss of $865 million, or a loss per share of 29 cents, compared to a loss of $594 million, or 21 cents per share, for the same quarter a year ago." Sprint earnings: Is a 4G headstart, fewer subscriber losses enough for a turnaround? | ZDNet

That would make a May release very unlikely and even June 6 doubtful if training is 3 weeks. You would think it could be done quicker, no?

I know of four different 4g areas that that reps have gotten the phones already.. Maybe soft launch in 4g areas first??

Or launch for all but 4g areas get a head start since 4g is active?

I would LOVE a launch in 4G areas first. Whatever it takes to get me my phone ASAP is what I will desire with all of my being -_-.

EDIT: Hey, foul language is a-okay on here as long as we're not directing it towards anybody or making some kind of sexually explicit remarks. Or at least I thought so. :|

maybe that is why they are pushing to get NY and LA online

The plot thickens. It'd make sense to get it to the 4G folks first, assuming that there are dedicated 4G apps. Otherwise, they're just training in on a regular Android Sense phone, more or less.

I am a bit surprised, that if there are phones out there in the wild that there haven't been more leaks - pictures, etc...

Back on topic...It makes sense that the 4G markets get their EVOs for their reps first, right?

Well, only if they have such a limited amount that they can only send them to their reps in those 4G areas instead of all of the major stores everywhere. I'm guessing that's not the case, though.

Very eager for them to get their hands on the phone and give us the deets.

I am in a 4G City. Heck there is 5 cities close to me with 4G. None of the stores I have checked with here have advocate phones yet. Actually, I knew more about the phone and possible release than the Manager.

So much for that theory. Seems like we're looking at a later June release.
