the advocate here in chicago said he's getting the phone one week before the release, 5/30.
 
Earlier this year I was living in a 3g area and went to a Sprint store to get an Overdrive a few weeks after it first came out. I was going to be traveling to a 4g location and wanted to try the OD. I was informed it was only available at stores in a 4g area. So, Sprint has set a relatively recent precedent in selling a 4g device only in 4g areas when first available. Having said that, the EVO is 3g/4g so the example may not be quite the same.

That's odd. The overdrive is 3G/4G.

But you don't launch a flagship phone with all out media rampage in only select areas. That'd be real dumb.

For what it's worth, I'm glad you guys aren't getting it first......err.....I mean, well........just cause we're not on 4G markets doesn't mean we deserve to get it later!

I agree. I want to see a nationwide release - which is what I, and everyone else, expects to see.

That seems to happen to me also!! I went to a sprint store, a radioshack and the sprint kiosk @ the mall and I seemed to more than all those people. It wasn't like they were withholding info they really didn't know shit. Maybe I was talking to the wrong people.. I live in overland park - where the damn HQ is you'd expect these guys would know something but they don't! I guess I will just have to wait till wednsday!
 
Polkadots, I'm glad you're still here. Now that we lost River, we need all the sassy women we can get (I mean that in a good way, heh)

Maybe this is a defiance of the GODS that be (mods), but for anyone who's checked out Bill's forums, has anything actually useful been posted there recently?

(Not counting Jackson's continued, constant hyperbole)

I highly doubt that anything has been mentioned here...with 100+ posters over there I would assume that something would trickle back this way if it was anything of note. Rebella seems to be far more of an insider in the know anyway. :o

She also uses correct grammar, doesn't take offense to people questioning her a bit or attack them for it, doesn't try to needlessly hype up the product more than it should be, and has common sense too!

I guess what I'm trying to say is, thanks for all the info Rebella! :D

(And yes, I highly doubt there would be any worthwhile info over there but thought I'd try anyway, did Self Praise ever post again or did he say he was coming back after the 12th or just simply left?)

Longtime lurker myself. Can't wait for the Evo. Can someone PM the link as well? Not because I'm going to leave this forum, just want to read EVERYTHING I can about the Evo!!! :p

I've been due for an upgrade for over a year now. I'm still using my craptastic Rumor. I've been holding out for the right phone and I think June will be a GREAT time for me to upgrade.

Less than a month to go...

I don't know if I can really agree that the way Sprint sold the Overdrive sets a precedent for how they'll sell the EVO.

The Overdrive's function is primarily as a 3G/4G wireless router for people that need a fast internet connection on the go.

The EVO serves multiple purposes beyond having the capability of acting as a wireless hotspot/router for internet connection. Ultimately, the EVO's primary function is to be a cell phone.

Whenever taking into consideration "precedent," it's usually in broader terms as far as "industry practice" is concerned. There are no other wireless providers that offer 4G connectivity, so while the way Sprint sold the Overdrive may have set a precedent for other providers to follow, it shouldn't have any affect on how they go about selling the EVO. Sprint is setting the standard / precedent because they're the only provider offering 4G connectivity. It's up to other providers, when they finally have 4G to offer their customers, whether Sprint's model is the one to follow or if they want to set a new "standard" or precedent in the future for the industry to follow. Problem is, the other providers aren't even close to that yet, so Sprint really has a golden opportunity at this time to capitalize on something they have that no other provider has.

Sorry, this isn't exactly on-topic, but I felt the need to add my pair o' pennies. Concerning Rebella's good grammer, I too appreciate it very much (I'm one of those crazy grammer and spelling "nazi's"). Thank you Rebella and all others who have at least a little pride in their english composition abilities.

Agreed... Sprint, please for the love of god don't give this to only 4g cities first and make the rest of us loyal customers wait because that will suck even bigger huevos.... and taint
