I think I would've preferred more internal storage. Not a fan of storing apps on mini cards.

It could be cool for loading different states from different cards though. Office, travel, entertainment, games...

Just seems like a step back... feels like floppy disk days.

you cant install apps on the sd card as of right now.

Not a clue :(

I was hoping that today that one of the Android sites that got the invite would post something like "We're in NYC for the Evo event, follow us live" or something like Engadget usually does, but haven't found anything yet.
androidcentral is going to have a feed through twitter i believe

Just thought I'd check that the 22nd was still the date you're speculating.

I think SP and Jackson left for the same type of reasons. They came on here to give some info, people got offended by their approach, others didn't. So the people that got "offended" had to put on their "internet ego" or "internet enforcer" suit and try to bully them.

Obviously it worked because it pushed them out, but I absolutely do not agree with how it happened.

btw, eieio, I actually do think the way that you're going at rebella was the same mannerism (from others) that pushed SP and Jackson away. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed I reread my post and they did seem like attacks and less like questions..

One of the bad things about posting is there is no way to show, sarcasm, skepticism or playful banter.

When I re read the post I sounded like I was being a douche bag and going after her..

There where also a few times I was not even responding to her but to other posters, but the forum moves so fast sometimes it appeared that way..

So I apologize for seeming to attack Rebella and nominate myself for douche bag of the day..

I swear, some of you people are obsessed with proving or disproving the credibility of others. It's no wonder why so many have chosen to depart.

I personally try to leave the childness out of the whole EVO THREAD!!! Seriously, when was it posted to attack fellow members of the community. I personally spend most of my time here becuase of loyalty; however I do also venture off to other threads, much like us scavengers do. Trying to pick up bits and peices of info where we can. Bill's site is no different. IMHO, no one has the right to pick on another member whether they are right or wrong period. rebella, jackson or whom ever else BSOD.... again, IMO whether they end up being right or wrong did what they thought was best and posted as such. I personally thank everyone of you for everything you have brought to light... esspecially the MOD's! Let's keep this cival and move on the the PM's when appropriate. I personally call this thread home and I'd like to continue doing so, thanks guys!:)

They're talking about the potential impact the Evo will have on Sprint from a financial point of view. I know I got some Sprint stock :p

Gj, wise choice. I think everyone should have been on the Sprint stock bandwagon weeks ago.
(Full Disclosure)
I have no Sprint stocks, not going to own Sprint stocks, and I can't say the same for the rest of my family. :P

450% faster. Pretty impressive. But I'd like to warn people that is just a benchmark - actual usage speeds would vary greatly.

Also the more I think about it, I'm not so sure HTC devices would get google OTA updates for Android. Reason being is that it could potentially break the Sense UI on top of it. Hmm

I don't know much about the coding, but is it possible that Froyo has base coding that would be hands-off to overlays like Sense? Was just wondering if desktop OS can be written in ways that are essentially backward- and forward-compatible, can't the same be done starting with Froyo?

This is why I thought Google even did the N1 experiment. To show that new code can be done even if the OEMs and carriers really have more interest in selling what they already have or is most profitable to them. In essence, Google's N1 experiment progressed to "we'll take over the OS from here on" and get out of the hardware business now that you understand we're not really going to become a carrier or OEM.

All the carrier's will experience churn if they don't accept that consumers want immediate OS updates not delayed bridges to carrier services.

One question for Rabella, you mentioned that there would be a special code or plan for the EVO. Does that mean that there will be a specific plan for the EVO that could cost more than the simply everything plan? I understand that sprint will be charging more for the wifi hotspot feature and I'm fine with that, but what I want is will I have to pay more to just use the 3g/4g options?

Thanks

Last time I posted some info some people thanked me and then others said I must be lying and they doubted me. What is the point of a forum to discuss if everyone says you are wrong. I work at Sprint and this is what happened today and what we learned about the EVO in the training nothing more. I don't know the price or the exact release date. The EVO reps are the ones that told me June 6th last week. If you don't want to believe me I can stop posting here.

Rebella.....don't let the opinion of one person offend you. You can't appease everyone in the world. Just know that you are helping me and others like me on this forum and we appreciate all the info that you are providing us.

Like I said before, just ignore the haters. I'm sure others on this forum feel the way I do, and appreciate your info just like I do. Keep it up!

To answer your question, from my experience with ROM cooking and whatnot, the answer would be yes....and no.

Can you do it? Kinda. It will work, but because HTC Sense on some of the newer phones is so embedded in the OS, its kinda like reflashing the device on an OTA.

Could Google and HTC have come up with a way to make is easier? Sure -- they're a lot smarter than I.

My very first post ever!!!

Everbody keep posting all the info you can a we each can decide what we want to believe on a idividual basis.

Rebella i have a friend in the Corp Sprint store out here and with the Pre she was given info that was just for public consumption and to keep interest up some was not really true. One of thed things her store did was even after the advocate got the Pre they would tell any customers that came in that had no advocate and never got an Advocate Pre. I knew they was lying but that is what they where told. So whatever they tell you keep telling us. It will give us insite into the Sprint Retail view.

EIEIO... I loved the speed test! Can you give me an update on the Boston-Providence Area. I live 30miles South of Boston and 20miles North of Providence. What are my speeds and when is it going to be live? Also Work for Local NFL team any chance Gillette Stadium will be part of bring 4G to Foxboro MA with the way Sprint and NFL partner???

Any of you insiders got a NSA hookup? I need to TAP Dan Hesse's EVO right now. I want to know what he is talking to Oprah about. Send Mr. Hesse a video message on his EVO telling him to come on here and post some FACTS!! We are dying to spend money and lots of it to save his company and his job!!!

Thanks for listening!

The EVO codes that are being discussed will only matter to Sprint employees.

This is similar to the differences between blackberries & other phones. Blackberries are unique in that they use the BIS or BES, and the EVO will be unique in that it accesses the 4G , bottom line to consumers on the "everything" plans will be the same. It sounds like the only "upcharge" will be for hotspotting with the EVO...

Is that at least as clear as mud?

:D

I am humbly saying "I posted this info on May 6th", even though the google rep said it will be called 2.2 Eclair and 2.5 Froyo would be 6wks after EVO launch OTA. I still understood from the google rep at work that 2.5 will be called Froyo and EVO will launch with 2.2 Eclair.

I think this is great news for us EVOtians though :) 450% perf gain..nice

imagine 450% on N1, it must be crazy % on Evo then

I second this quesiton...

Geez, :)

No wonder the poopoo. I hope this can put some things to rest.

1) HTC Sense UI..it's hardwired into the code on EVO's ROM..You can't fuse with that (you could, but not recommended, cuz it has unique code) I don't know anyone that can code to HTC new Sense UI yet.

2) Everything else about EVO is hardwired..meaning, camera x2, GPU, CPU, Radio 3g/4g, GPS, GPM, is all incorporated into Snapdragon processor, and interconnected. This is what makes the phone so efficient. The same reason Samsung Galaxy S needed to go AMOLED w/smaller screen because of hummingbirds inefficiencies.

3)4G is not regulated at this time and will have unlimited download bandwidth. Once again 4G is part of the Unlimited Plan. HotSpot option is going to be 20 bucks because of unlimited downloads x8. I have seen all 8 devices download at a min of 6mbs through a EVO. (Special tweak from the blue man group)

4)The kick stand works perfectly, what else could you ask for.

I posted in the other thread...but this sounds exactly the same as last year with the PRE launch.

The PRE was only able to be activated on an Everything Data plan, this "coding" sounds the same as that.

It could be as little as just a reminder to Sprint Employees that the EVO can not be activated on any other plan. I really cant see Sprint having a completely different plan just for the EVO.

Most of the soon to be EVO consumers are those that read blogs and these forums. It is well known that 4G is cheaper and less expensive to maintain compared to 3G. So why would Sprint have on specific plan for the EVO & 4G, when there wont even be that many 4G markets compared to what they believe to be will be the EVO community?
