No, its exactly 1.5M.

EDIT: I'm edited this post because I think I misunderstood LSI. I thought he was questioning the cable length but apparently he received a cable that's shorter than 2 meters. The ones I received are exactly 6.56'.

LSI - I'm sorry. I don't really understand what the issue is. I ordered a cable from arrownac that is 2 meters long and that's exactly what I got. I misunderstood what you were referring to when you said "1.5 meters"

Bill, Very nice pics!! Not to change subject but do you have any light leakage at the bottom of the screen when the icon buttons are illuminated? Saw a couple of reviews the had that fault. Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve. I guess I don't really understand the problem. The only time the buttons are illuminated is when the phone is on. For the heck of it, I took the phone into a dark room and I can't see any leakage with the phone on or off.

Are you kidding me with this *******?

You said it was 2M - I threw out an FYI just in case it might be a problem in your (or lets face it, your parent's) HD Television set. You chime in saying that no, I'm wrong, and its closer to 2M. It isn't, its 1.5M.

Great Bill....just wondering because a review i read pointed that out. Actually showed pic. Must have just been the phone he received for review. I will try to find the review that had the pic. It was pretty noticeable. They were talking about poor build quality. i went & saw an HD2 it it felt great to me. Can't wait to get mine. Thanks for the info. Steve

Why the hostility? According to the manufacture website, that cable is 2.0m long. IDK where you came up with 1.5, but the linked page is question clearly states 2.0m 6.56'

No need to get all pissy. Just agree to dis agree if you must and move along instead of getting mad.

I don't understand the disrespect. I guarantee you that Cary is not a little kid and he doesn't live with his parents. I also know that he has the cable.

You won't be disappointed with the build quality. When you hold the phone in your hand, I guarantee that you're going to love it.

I had the same issue with seeing the phone. An employee invited me to come see it, and before i got there his manager said he would get fired if he showed it to me. I understood, i'll wait.
The manager of the local sprint store let me play with it for a few hours last time I was in. I said do you have an evo in the store? The manager said yes here it is.

If they are getting all bent out of shape, why give the phone to like 5000 people yesterday. It is silly. Next time the manager says he will get fired, ask to speak with the person that will fire him. Tell him that not letting a person use a phone that is already available, is just bad business. You have to complain.

And to give LS1 the benefit of the doubt - which I'm sure he's a good person and doesn't mean to be hostile - there are several part #s on the MOLEX site:

View List

Part # 687860002 is indeed 1.5 meters = 4.92 feet long

Part # 687860003 is indeed 2 meters = 6.56 feet long

If any of you order from Arrow and pay for a 6.56' long cable PLEASE be sure to check your order to make sure they sent you the right length. There are 2 different part #s one being shorter than the other.

LS1 - again, please don't take my post as an offense. I should check my own sarcasm at the door. I edited my post because it wasn't right to do that to you

awesome sauce, now we can all get along again :D

A friend of mine last night had the HD2 from T Mobile I thiink it was. And he let me and my friend see it and we said oh were both getting the EVO next weeek. But my friend he got to hold it and check out the size and the guy started playign a movie on it and we were like wow wait till we do that on our phone with that screen size. I hope we get it early.

Question: has anyone ordered an external shell or snap on case for the EVO? I've never had one on any device and was wondering if anything that says "Snap on" risks scratching the surface of the phone. I'm leaning more towards a silicone case but I really just need something that takes the impact of a short fall.

EDIT: also I don't want this to turn into an argument about personal aesthetics or opinions about what "looks" good to them. I know that can get lengthy as well. I just want to know if there is a good reliable source and manufacturer for silicone cases for the EVO. Thanks

+1. its rock solid. anyone who thinks the phone is too big is wrong. i cant wait till i get mine! thanks again bill!

Bill here is the site, tell me what ya think.....HTC EVO 4G review -- Engadget
Nope, I don't have any kind of leak like Engadget is showing. I supposed Chris Ziegler is just doing is job, which includes pointing out negatives, but I don't necessarily agree with him on some of his remarks. He said when the phone is laying down that the camera lens could get scratched (I'm paraphrasing), but if you run your finger nail along the edge, you can feel a lip. So the bezel part touches, not the lens. My guess is that the lens is made of the same scratch resistant material as the touch screen, so why make people think there is something wrong with the design?

From my experience, "snap on" means it is a 2 piece hard case that snaps together on the phone. I have used them on my BB without scratching. I currently use a simple silicon "cover" because it is less bulky. I have dropped my phone several times and although the silicone case may get a small hole in it, the phone remains unharmed.

i didnt see the light leaking either. i think i asked you that today, and i didnt see anything. might just be a few of them that have the problem.

Hi. My son has an Iphone & he purchased a similar case. He loved it till a few days later. He took it off to clean his phone...he is a real clean freak. Haha, anyway he removed the case & found a ton of scratches around the edge where the chrome trim is. So be careful.

Yeah you can definitely feel it. I got to see and hold Bill's EVO he purchased today and it is a very sturdy feeling device. Its heavy but not too much, feels like quality not like its too bulky. The camera is definitely not flush with the back of the phone but it doesn't rest on the lens.

Really glad to hear what you guys have to say about the light leakage. I agree that sometimes these reviews bring things up like the camera bezel & scratching for no good reason. The screen is glass with a scratch resistant coating? if so does it also act as a reflection reducer?

Yeah I also read a couple reviews with that complaint, dont recall where though. But its good to see that your phone does not have that problem, which leads me to believe that it could have been an isolated incident.

I gotta say though that light leakage thing is probably just a problem with the device he got. I have an ipod touch and the first one I got had that exact problem down the left side of the screen. I took it back and traded it out and the next one was fine. Chalk that one up to bad luck if you get one with that issue. But I can guarantee I will be exchanging mine if it comes like that.

Also to be fair, I didn't keep track of the exact pages, but I believe I saw some conflicting, or at least unclear, info on which part number was being ordered and which part number was which length. If Cary has actually received a cable from that site and it is 2m, that's good enough for me.

For anybody that has Evos, have you noticed any scratches with the screen yet? I'm curious because my EVO should arrive on wed, but the clarivue sp that i ordered is currently on backorder for a few days, so i wonder if it will be ok for a short period of time

My thoughts exactly. It doesn't really change anything when people walk away and post online and say "oh well they lost my business" or "oh well I'll just log into sprint chat" or whatever. You need to notify management, file a complaint of some sort. That is the only way things will change.
